I think I got it.... the Obit of Martha Matlock Sooter that "Mrs. Sooter was a cousin of Mrs. ?. P. Mitchell and Preston Matlock of this city, and her husband M.M. Sooter was a cousin of W. H. Brown, living north of this city.Exeter, Calif." I think perhaps that James Matlock who was in Barry Co MO by 1870, ( I wasnt able to find them in 1860)... Is the James we find in Polk Co TN 1850.. Son of Jason Jr RIGHT? Therefore...
