    3. Linda, Here are the census for Greenville Co, SC where he first appeared. I have that he was born in 1820. Only male children in Greenville Co., in 1830 were children of William. And according to the census here he had a five to 10 year old male child in his house hold by 1840. Looking at this census William is the only one that does not appear in 1840. Rebecca could be the widow of William. Sorry that I can not help you more. Seems that someone posted that he was raised by his grandfather. Perhaps someone else has more information for you.
