Ann MEDLOCK, dau of Charles MEDLOCK. Both the Jordans and MEDLOCKS had come to GA from NC in the 1790s. Family Puzzlers 1996 No. 1426, p. 10 Hugh Lawson Breazeale, son of Henry Breazeale and Telitha MATLOCK, moved from Roane Co., TN to Wright Co., MO No. 1448, p. 12 Lt. William Jordan, b. 3-31-1744 in Richmond, VA, d. 9-23-1826 in Warren Co., GA., m. Ann MEDLOCK, b. 1759, d. 1817. They had 8 children. [Not named] No. 1454, p. 10 Robert Ware (son of Ezekiel Park Ware) was b. 10-13-1828, and m. Mary MEDLOCK, dau. of John MEDLOCK. Family Puzzlers 1995 No. 1405, p. 14 William Milam m. Mary Parthenia (Polly) MEDLOCK, dau. of Abner NIXON (1777 VA - 1857 Pontotoc Co., MS and Mary B. (1783 SC - 1865 Pontotoc Co., MS) About 1842 the MIlams moved from Greenville Dist., SC to Cherokee Co., AL. All of their 13 children had been born in SC. Family Puzzlers 1993 No. 1298, p.11 Sarah V. Day m. Samuel MEDLOCK 1854 Pike Co., AL. Elizabeth Day m. 1st Thomas H. Dennis there 1861; then ? MEDLOCK and supposedly moved to TX. No. 1306-15 Betty MEDLOCK m. Leander Mullis in the 1890s, probably in Walker Co., GA. She died when their children were young. Family Puzzlers 1992 No. 1229, p. 6 Found in the Douglas Register that in Goochland Co., VA, John MATLOCK or MEDLOCK m. Nancy Witt, and Charles Hulsey m. Hannah Witt, probably daus. of John Witt. MATLOCK and Hulsey bought land adjacent in Greenville Co., SC 1789-90, as did Charles Estes, possibly father of Joshua Estes who m. Elizabeth Hulsey and Jesse Chandler, somehow connected with the family of Michael Henderson. Silas and James MEDLOCK may have been sons of Nathaniel MATLOCK, possible brother of Mary MATLOCK who m. Garrett Rutledge in 1791, and later m. Waddy Thompson. All these people lived 1790-1800 in Greenville Co., SC; by 1805 many of them were in NE GA and by 1818 some came to Franklin Co., AL. The Hulseys and MATLOCKS lived earlier in Burke Co., NC. Many may have been in Louisa Co., VA in 1750s with Tyree Harris, William Anderson, Samuel & Anthony Waddy, Thomas Thompson and Nathaniel Pope. No. 1229, p. 8 Anne E. Brown, b. 8-18-1838, in Dekalb Co., GA, the dau. of Fanning Brown and Rhoda MEDLOCK. Ann m. Mansfield Crawley. No. 1244, p. 17 Revolutionary soldier William Jordan b. 3-31-1741 VA, who m. Annie MEDLOCK, and d. 923-1826 Warren Co., GA. MEDLOCK & Rebecca Ballenger Aug 11, 1842 [Rebecca born Jan 14, 1825] ibid, p. 18 Brother-in-law Thomas L.D. MEDLOCK, died Feb. 26, 1864 Family Puzzlers 1987-88 No. 1009, p. 7 Thomas Ware appeared in the 1850 TX census, age 80, b. MD, but living in Colorado Co., TX. He d. 1-19-1859, and named 15 children in his will: Margaret Bridges, Jemison, Martha, Sarah MATLOCK, Henry, Lucy Dodson, Nicholas, John, Robert, Elizabeth Turner, Ezekiel, Mary Ann Harwell, Louisa Breeding, Artemesia, Virginia Carolina Turner, dec's son. Family Puzzlers 1986 No. 969, p. 13 Willis Duncan, b. 12-16-1815, Hickman Co., TN, d. 9-27-1893 Hackett, AR. Willis m. Nancy Ann R. MATLOCK, b. 4-24-1821 in central TN d. 2-17-1889 at Watonwan Co., MN. Nancy's parents were b. TN; Willis' parents were b. NC. Willis and Nancy were m. 3-9-1837, Marshall Co., MS, resided in Scott Co., MO in 1840, and moved to Monroe Co., AR. They went to Watonwan Co., MN late in 1869. Children: Amelia C. b. 12-16-1837, d. 2-12-1887, m. George W. Green and had 5 children Eligah b. ca. 1840, d. 1850-60 William J. b. 1841 m. 1st Margarett E. Sanders, White Co., IL; 2nd MRs. Louisa C. Watson 11-22-1877, divorced? Abraham b. 1845 died young Louisa b. 1848 died young Andrew Jackson b. 10-22-1849, d. 10-26-1928, m. Sarah Agnes Stapp and had 7 children Sarah E. b. 5-4-1851, d. 1-20-1923, m. 1st William A. Williams; 2nd Samuel Auringer, divorced; 3rd Charles Henry Collier Willis F. b. 1853 went to the gold rush; no information later than 1890 when he lived in SD. Columbus Alexander b. 3-6-1855, d. 10-21-1927 m. Mary P. Southerland Henry Clay b. 11-4-1856, d. 3-5-1924 m. Myrtle Loper Nancy Ellen b. 5-15-1858, d. 6-11-1923 m. Chauncy B. Harrington. Family Puzzlers 1985 No. 912, p. 17 Granville Co., NC Sarah MATLOCK m. 1781 William Priddy No. 924, p. 9 James Travis MEDLOCK and Katherine Bullock. Their son Robert Travis MEDLOCK m. Jennie Vermille Hickson 1820 in Marshallville, GA. Family Puzzlers 1981 No. 731, p. 18 Zachariah Phillips, Sr. d. Coweta Co., GA 1832, m. Mary MEDLOCK Children: Zachariah, Jr.; Lurena Jane or Lucinda, m. C.W. Buckley; Mary Louisa m. M.D. Ector; Edmond Gaines m. Mary Ector; Emily m. William T. Williamson. No. 739, p. 17 George MEDLOCK d. Jasper Co., GA ca. 1813. His son was George D.L. MEDLOCK. A brother-in-law or uncle was Zachariah Phillips, named as guardian of G.D.L. Zachariah Philips m. Mary (Polly) MEDLOCK, either dau. or widow of George, in 1813. Family Puzzlers 1980 No. 643, p. 7 Lewis Williams b. Halifax Co., VA in 1755; came from VA to Greenville, SC in 1790s and on to Jackson and Franklin Co., GA about 1805. Susannah Williams, dau of Lewis, m. Isham Medlock in SC. No. 646, p. 9 John MEDLOCK lived ca. 1800 in Greenville, SC; son John MEDLOCK, Jr. died before his father; John Jr's wife was a Catherine. No. 651, p. 4 Ancestors Unlimited, Vol II, No. 1, March 1980 included a Bible of the MEDLOCK family. [This was more of an advertisement for Ancestors Unlimited of College Park, GA and lists what is in this issue. It doesn't say what Medlock bible.] Family Puzzlers 1979 No. 588, p. 12 Isham MEDLOCK, b. VA 1777, in Greenville District SC in early 1800s. Found in Jackson, Franklin, Gwinnett Cos. of GA until 1820s when he went to Cherokee Co., AL where he died in 1854. His wife Susannah Williams was dau. of Lewis Williams. No. 600, p. 15 Isham MEDLOCK b. ca. 1777 VA, was in Greenville Dist., SC ca. 1800. Children: John William b. 1803, SC; Lewis Henry b. SC ca. 1808; Mastin Delony b. ca. 1811 GA. Family Puzzlers 1978 No. 551, p. 7 Susannah Williams m. ca. 1798 to Isham MEDLOCK. The Williams and MEDLOCK families were in Jackson and Franklin Cos. GA in early 1800s.
