I have wondered the same, Is it the sound of the name that changed the spellings? Its just that Wanda and while working on the census for the web site see so many spellings that its getting to the point of where do you draw the line at. We were curious to see how many had there Matlocks become Mattox. Myself mine went back and forth from Matlock/Medlock. Thanks for the Medlock/Midlock. Brenda
