Joe, I just noticed that you have my William b. 1755 as William James Matlock as son of William b. (1702). How did you come to this conclusion... Is there a court record or something that says that he was an orphaned child when his father died... William b. 1702 died 1767 and William would have only been 12 to 14 years old. If there was an underage child didn't they appoint a guardian for them even (their own mother) And where did the James come from? On ALL the many records that I have, I have NEVER seen the name James in connection with William. I have only seen this theory once and it was on a website but I can't recall where. Sorry I didn't notice that before I sent the other e-mail. Wanda
