HI! Guys and Gal's on the mailing list .... This happens to be Arbor Day Month .... I have been been asked to be one of the art judges tomarrow, we will be judging Arbor Day Posters, done by the school children. Later this month my students will be featuring their art work ... we are doing our "FAMILY TREE" in oils .... Exposing Our Roots , I wish you could see them ..... They have a rough pattern to follow otherwise the kids are free to express them- selves in shape of tree, background and colors. It is amazing the interest they are showing ... even their parents seem to be delighted. Beside all the little genealogy and pedigree ideas coming up ... at first some panick when they realized grandma or grandpa was dead, we got past that .... so now it's fun! fun! ... One youngster today, said "I LOVE TREES" .... well I do to ... I wish to offer this special POEM to all of you and especially to Jana ... THE FAMILY TREE By Jean Sailer Tell me, have you ever seen An elm branch on an evergreen? When oak and birch grow close and touch Does this affect their seedling much? If, indeed, a freak should sprout The whispering pines would talk, no doubt. Perhaps you think there'll never be That crazy kind of mixed up tree, But you are wrong. I tell no lie! Great branches reaching to the sky Have different leaves ... I guarantee. They'er growing on a family tree So if your roots have crossed the seas With mixed-up nationalities Don't be disturbed ..... new roots will take; Then when you give your tree a shake You'll realize the whole darn clan Is what we call AMERICAN!
