Hi Joe, I have always thought Hescott was the son of William of 1702.. and I believe that Hescott and Samuel are father and son... Its really hard to say exactly when Samuel was born in 1800 as Im sure you know, it shows that he was 45 and over.. which places him born at least by 1765... Now if Im right, on what I have down for Samuel.. he was old enough to have recieved pay for Reg Militia Protecting Public Peace.. in 1766 Assuming that hes atleast 21 at that time...this would place Samuel born abt 1744... So the 1740, isnt that far off... The problem for me is trying to figure out who Hescott belongs to.. If Samuel was born bet 1740-44 Hescott was surely born 1719-1723... The frist mention of a possible Hescott was Escott in Albemarle Co VA 1748... if atleast age 21ish in 1748 this would state he was born 1727ish which again the 1719-1723 falls in that range... So alls well so far... Now.. IF Hescott was born 1723... He very well could of been the first born son of William of 02, which I all along thought he was a son of anyways...its others who have put his the son of Nicholas.. and since they were in Granville Co at the same time I thought ok I will go with the flow of it... When your DNA comes in and when the matching up is done, I may move Hescott as a son of William of 02 as I always thought he was a son of anways.. If I do move him ... I will let you know.. Oh and another thing.. A researcher who lives in VA did some research years ago and while looking at this Escott/Hescott.. I guess way back when there was a Family Group with the Surname as Escott/Hescott which makes one wonders if perhaps William of 02 first wife was a Escott... Might be worth while looking into that..
