Another thing that I found interesting was that this is a deed from JOHN Medlock to John Howell; but it is signed JAMES Medlock. John Medlock Hawkins County, TN. Book 3, page ?? (page number looks like a 1 something but the corner is folded down over it so it is not readable.) John Medlock to John Howell } Transcribed from Registered 18th May 1797 } Liber ? Page 77 This Indenture made this Sixth day of March in the year of our lord one thousand Seven Hundred and ninety Six between John Medlock of the County f Hawkins and State of Tennefsee of the one part and John Howell of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnefseth that the Said John Medlock for and in consideration of the Sum of one Hundred Pound to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is Hereby acknowledged hath and by these present s doth grant bargain Sell Alien enfeoff? And confirm unto the Said John Madlock his Heirs and Assigns forever a certain Tract or parcell of land Containing one Hundred Acres be the Same more or lefs lying in Hawkins County on the Headwaters of Sinking Sinking Creek --- beginning at a Dogwood and white Oak then South ten west Sixty poles to two Spanish Oaks South Thirty west one Hundred and twenty poles to a Stake Crofsing a Branch then north Sixty west one Hundred and eighty Poles to a Stake then South Sixty east one Hundred & thirty pole to the beginning with all and Singular the woods waters watercources Profitts comadithes Hereditaments and appurtenances to the Said land belonging Or Appertaining and the reversian & reversians Remainder & Remainders Rents Services & Issues thereof and all the Estate right Title Proffits Property claim and demand of him the Said John Medlock himself Heirs &c of in and to the Same and every part and parcell thereof either in law or equity.
