I went to the library today and brought back a few tidbits :) >From "TN Tidbits 1778-1914" complied by Marjorie Hood Fischer and Ruth Blake Burns - Ram Press 1988 - page 51 "Carter, John - August term 1788, was ordered to give bond for the maintenance of a Base Born Male Child of the Body of Sarah Medlock, named John. His securities were Thomas Yourley and David Allison (Was TN, Co. Ct. Min 1/1338). John Carter was the reputed father as shown when he was ordered to pay Ten pounds for the expenses and maintenance of the said child for 11 1/2 months past. May Term 1789 (ibid 380)" Does anyone know which Sarah this is??? Looking at Brenda and Wandas' *wonderful* pages, I see Sarah in VA with an older boy/man in the 1790 AND I see a Notley Matlock "next door" - could this be a connection to the elusive Notley Thomas who is supposed to be Richard Matlock's Brother-in-law who possesses the family Bible???? In the PA record, even tho Sarah is listed in the index, I only see Samuel in the census???? Ladies? Help??? Jana
