MATLOCK, b. 1843. >>> <[email protected]> 06/07/01 06:35PM >>> Joe, you seem to be so well versed on the MATLOCK family (wish they were all related and easier to find) - would you by chance have any information on the MATLOCKS in McMinn County? If so, could you help me sort them out so I can find: Henry Matlock b. 11 Jul 1840 McMinn County, TN, d. 21 Oct 1919 and is buried at the Matlock Cemetery. He was married to Mary Catherine "Molly" Barker (1863-1944) and they had two sons - one died at birth and the other son worked on the railroad. Note: I was back there two years ago and have pictures of the gravestone of Henry plus others. Mary was the daughter of Burrell and Rebecca Quintin Wilhoit (Wilhite) Barker and a sister to my grandfather, William Burl Barker. There are two of the family still living and with excellent recall memory but I cannot get them to give me any information on this marriage/couple....except what I have above. In the "Will Book and Court Records" by Reba Bayless Boyer, it lists the following MATLOCKS: Charles - with heirs Henry, William and John and then Mary Dodson, Elizabeth Haley, heirs of Sarah Forrest and Martha Rice, widow of Isaac Rice, dec'd and Wm. Rice and wife Elizabeth. Then we continue on with John, John C., Nancy, William with a few Arnwines, Leuty and other names thrown in. If you are familiar with the McMinn County Matlocks, would you help me in putting this family together and perhaps finding WHY I can't get the info on Henry...........I could care less what the "supposed problem" is......a century has passed....don't think it would really hurt anyone to give me an honest answer. Thank you in advance. Jean L. Robinson Arizona PS: If he was a horse thief.....that's OK with me, too. Or, the "lack of information" may be on Mary's side.....
