    3. Brenda You are quite right the William who married Mary Berry was not in any war and died young. His father William b. 1762 was in the American Revolutionary war. William of 1762 has a son John who dies abt 1849 who in 1820 had married Mary Polly Fugua. In 1850 Mary is living in Mulberry Township, Franklin County, Arkansas. She is in the household of John Barnhill age 36, a farmer, 36 born in Illinois and her "daughter?" Malinda age 24 and born in TN. Willima of 1762 also has a daughter Mary who marries in 1836. Marry Berry returns to Tennessee because she needs a home and Mary Polly Fuqua has one with John Barnill (????). The Matlock's of Davidson County have become very middle class if not wealthy. William of 1762 other son James b. 1811 is appointed Brigader General and runs a store in Nnashville. The note I have on the will is "Two grandchidren, Gabriel (7 Nov 1804 - 27 June 1889)and Margaret Matlock were mentioned in the will in addtion to hiers of Benjamin Matlock." Lots to think about Thanks for the help Joe Matlock >>> <[email protected]> 06/14/01 06:46PM >>> Thoughts Taking the William Matlocks, that's being talked about, I find it hard to believe that William who married Mary Berry, William born 1802* and died 1827 was in any war.. The War 1812.. He would have been 10. He would of only been 17 when in 1819 he married.. Men back then didn't Marry that Young. Is it possible that the Pension that a Mary filed for was a different Mary? Does anyone have that Pension on Hand and does it say Mary Berry Matlock said**? I can say that A William was in Hempstead Co AR 1820/22 and that he was Married to A Mary, For they were named in George Berrys will. And that 5-7 years later William Died in 1827 and that this Probate Package was still going on in Hempstead Co in 1841. In 1830-40 No Mary Matlock is showing up on the Census in TN or AR, but in 1850 we do have 2 Mary's that are in my mind a question: Polly Matlock said to be Mary Polly wife of John In Franklin Co AR* and a Mary Matlock in Davidson Co TN said to be Mary Berry Matlock.. Now Why would Mary Berry Matlock Leave her family and go to TN? And why Would Mary Polly Fuqua Matlock Leave TN? Is it possible that The Mary in Franklin Co Is Mary Berry? Or is it Possible that Mary Berry Matlock Married a second time and that is why she isn't on the Census as Mary Matlock in 1830 or 1840? If anyone has this Pension that States Mary Berry Married William In AR, and that this Pension was applied for from Davidson Co TN to indicate that she was in TN in 1850, Please Step forward* One other Note I want to Make is that in William Matlocks Will.. William Said to be the father of the above William* He States that hes leaving his Grandchildren Margaret and Gabriel one share* It also leads me to believe that these 2 children are the Children of Benjamin Matlock who was also married to A Mary Polly Lee* I think that the Mary living with a Margaret is the Widow of Benjamin. This Margaret at age 23 in 1850 Says she was born in TN putting her born abt 1827, In 1827 When William Husband of Mary Berry died.. She could have been born in 1827.I would have to guess that she was born in AR. Also in William of Davidson Co Will, The other Grandchild named Was Gabriel Margaret Matlock who is married to Alex Buchanan had a son Gabriel. I assume that This Gabriel is named after her Brother??? For I doubt that Gabriel was her father Hope I haven't added to the Confusion.
