Matlock born 1838,(son of Micajah Matlock, son of Elisha Hosea Matlock (that's as far as I go with proof), think his father was Nicholas, son of John Matlock and Hester Watson), I received information on my John W. Matlock and his family from the Oregon State Archives in March, 2000. With the material that was sent to me was a petition and decree for registration of birth for William Frederick Matlock, race is white, resident of Oregon, living at 1508 E. 12th St., City of The Dalles, born at Worthington in the State of Indiana, 30th day of March in the year 1890. The petitioner's father was William L. Matlock, of the City of Worthington, State of Indiana, born in1851 and the petitioner's mother was Nancy Jane Matlock, whose maiden name was Nancy Jane Winters and who was born in Ireland in 1856, resident of Worthington, Indiana. Both of these documents were dated in 1948. Copies of these documents can be obtained through the Oregon State Archives.
