    3. Hi Joe, You are welcome... FYI, I am in the middle of what is turning out to be a "math challenge" involving comparing the data of the three censuses that mention Richard in NC and TN... 1790, 1800 and 1830 (apparently 1820 was incomplete and did not include him???). In any case, I am trying to see what clues I can glean out of "who might be attached to whom" as a result. Obviously the whole thing will merely set the stage for a further need to find documentation, but it is proving to be intriguing! Let me know if you (or anyone else on the list) want a copy of the word .doc I have generated as a result - the more eyes looking the better! Obviously, I will have to send it off list as the list can't handle attachments... Here's to piecing together the puzzle, bit by bit! I give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly who has inter-married with Valentine Matlock, the following described negro, namely Minne and her three children, estimating the said four negroes together with the hire of said negro Minne, say fourteen years, at one thousand dollars which is equal to one lot of my land heretofore disposed of between the heirs heretofore mentioned, to her and her heirs forever....." ".... Seventhly. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Peggy who has intermarried with George Matlock, my negro woman Winney and my negro woman Sidea and her child, a girl about two years old, which three negroes, together with the hire of Sidea eight years, I estimate their value at nine hundred dollars, to her and her heirs forever. And I further give to my said daughter Peggy two beds and furniture at forty dollars each which makes her share worth nine hundred and eighty dollars...." ==== MATLOCK Mailing List ==== To access the MATLOCK-L ARCHIVES:go to <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/> To read a copy of the ROOTSWEB Appropriate Use Policy go to <http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/aup.html> ==== MATLOCK Mailing List ==== Check out US GENWEB for surnames, info by county or country and more! http://www.usgenweb.net/ ~ Also see the World GENWEB Project for international queries http://www.worldgenweb.org/ TIP:use multiple spellings!
