Curt, Thank you for the children of John and Mary Lee. I thought Benjamin was but did not know of the others.Great.. .. Thanks! Per Asa Matlack's work..Benjamin and Jane had a son Timothy Matlock. (I can not prove this connection) But Timothy went to VA. Looking at marriage Timothy Matlack married Hester Eldredge in 1785 in NJ. Timothy is found in Culpeper Co, VA in 1787. His will was probated in Culpeper Co, VA in September 1794. He died about the age of 31. After his death on the 1810 census there is a Hester Matlock and Joseph Matlock in Culpeper Co, VA. I would suppose that this Hester is Timothy's wife and that Joseph would be her son (1850 census says he was 68 born about 1782 but Timothy and Hester didn't marry until 1785... So this 68 in 1850 could be off a few years). They are listed as Matlock's By 1820 Hester is still in Culpeper Co. Then Joseph Mattack is found in Orange County, VA. 1830 Joseph and a son William are in Preston Co, VA (later became WV). Hester Matlock is listed as Ester in Culpeper. Also listed in Culpeper are an older Samuel Mattock and Nolly. I believe that Samuel was the Asa Matlack's ancestor. They are not listed together so do not know if they are related in any way. By 1840 Joseph that was married to Sarah is in Preston County, VA and looks like two sons William and Joseph are living there. Ester or Hester is still living in Culpeper Co. Could it be that Joseph Matlick, Mattack, or Matlack is son of Timothy and Hester instead of Joseph born 1753 (Kirk's line). Let me know what you think. Wanda
