    3. Good Morning Terry, I don't think we decide that Rial was brother to Absalom due to JUST that record in Pendleton. Rial is also found in Alabama where Littelberry was (brother to Absaolm)... He was also found in Roane County, TN, where Moore, Jason and William were (brothers of Absalom and Littleberry). Don't know why he was still in South Carolina in 1811. Rial just seemed to be where other (possibly) family members were. He did not seem to stay anywhere for a long period of time. Absolom's Rial TOMBSTONE: Rial H Matlock, 29 Jan 1800 - 21 Feb 1873, Old Union Baptist Chruch Cem, Warren Co, KY; Masonic Emblem on stone; " Warren Co, KY Cemetery Records" I believe that Absolom was in KY by October 1801.. That is where his second son said he was born. Have a great day. (Pendleton District in 1811 covered Pickens, Oconee, and Anderson Counties.) Around 1800 Absalom had left SC for KY so why was Rial in Pendleton in 1811? Sam's marriage record says Rial was born 1800 SC. Next record to digest is this: April 8 1808 Issue of Millers Weekly Messenger (Excerpt from the Carolina Herald and Newsletter of Jan 2001) Letters remaining in the Post Office at Pendleton on April 1, 1808 for Absalom Melilock and Capt. Medlock.........Which of the Medlocks/Matlocks had the designation of Capt.? Revolutionary rank or state militia rank? The only Rev. soldiers I can think of off the top of my head were the 2 Captains Mattocks, Charles and John, who fought at Kings Mountain.
