Hi Brenda. Here is one thing we have on Rial Medlock. From "Kentucky Ancestors" Parents and wife of Bolen Clark whose daughter Camilla, born 17 April 1801 in Kentucky. Married 30 Jan 1823 in Warren Co Ky to Rial Matlock born 29 Jan 1800 in South Carolina. I am also sure we had a court case involving Rial but can't find it now. I think Terry is out of town when she returns possibly she can find her copy. Sam PS in 1830 Rial is listed in Warren County Ky

Sam, This Rial belongs to Absolom Matlock son of Moore and Jane. Absolom married his first wife in South Carolina..if I remember correctly. Good Morning All, Sometime ago we decided that the Pendleton Rial Medlock/Matlock was probably the brother of Absalom due to this record.... 20 March 1811 State of SC vs Rial Matlock Pendleton Vagrancy Trials. (Pendleton District in 1811 covered Pickens, Oconee, and Anderson Counties.) Around 1800 Absalom had left SC for KY so why was Rial in Pendleton in 1811? Sam's marriage record says Rial was born 1800 SC. Next record to digest is this: April 8 1808 Issue of Millers Weekly Messenger (Excerpt from the Carolina Herald and Newsletter of Jan 2001) Letters remaining in the Post Office at Pendleton on April 1, 1808 for Absalom Melilock and Capt. Medlock.........Which of the Medlocks/Matlocks had the designation of Capt.? Revolutionary rank or state militia rank? The only Rev. soldiers I can think of off the top of my head were the 2 Captains Mattocks, Charles and John, who fought at Kings Mountain.
