    3. Joe, (me again) Looking at my file... I have this census record for John Medlock in 1830. It puts his birth about 1770 or 1780. The age of John and Henry that died in Washington Co, IN seem to be too close for being father and son. 1830 TN, Knox Co, pg 318; John Medlock, 02121001-1100201; 2 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 2 male 15-20, 1 male 20-30, 1 male 50-60; 1 female 0-5, 1 female 5-10, 2 female 20-30, 1 female 40-50. !MARRIAGE: John Medlock to Priscilla Scott 8 Dec 1806, Knox Co, TN; bn John Neely and Wiley Scott. If Wiley Scott is father of Nancy that married Henry. Do you think that Priscilla could be sister to Nancy? Wanda

    3. Good Afternoon John Follow along with me here...this is a guess at best. The only William Everett I had died in 1896 ( which means we are not cousins yet) and Obviously that aint you. The only other William E I have found so far is the one below. And I think we can back track him as shown. James L was, he said born in Missouri and then move to Texas. Not uncommon to see this kind of relocation. Now notice the Silas family. They were the only one I found (late in the day could have missed one) with a son named James (J. some times looks like L.) who is one year old in 1870. The Medlock Matlock name shift happens a lot. Here is what I need you to do. Read over this carefully tonight and check your records. If this is your family then I have some further information. If not we will take another shot. 3. Good Morning Curt... It is as they say a puzzelment. I wll contiune to look. A couple of DNA test would help about now... Thansk for all of your work. Joe Matlock >>> <curtw@comcast.net> 3/23/2004 3:37:49 PM >>> Joe When you referred to Richard Matlack's son, Joseph Matlack of 1751, I assume Richard was another son of William Matlack and Mary Hancock. I have copies of the family pages three different but related bibles that all agree that Richards son, Joseph, was born 15 August 1750. I also have the abstract of both Richard's and Joseph's Wills. Both died in Gloucester County, New Jersey. I still think your best chance of finding the Matlick connection, if any, is with Joseph, son of Timothy Matlack and Hester Eldridge in Virginia. 1. Re: [MATLOCK-L] More New Jersey Matlacks to Virginia
    2. Joe When you referred to Richard Matlack’s son, Joseph Matlack of 1751, I assume Richard was another son of William Matlack and Mary Hancock. I have copies of the family pages three different but related bibles that all agree that Richards son, Joseph, was born 15 August 1750. I also have the abstract of both Richard’s and Joseph’s Wills. Both died in Gloucester County, New Jersey. I still think your best chance of finding the Matlick connection, if any, is with Joseph, son of Timothy Matlack and Hester Eldridge in Virginia. Here is what I have on Richard Matlack, son of William Matlack and Mary Hancock, and his children. Curt Descendants of Richard MATLACK Generation No. 1 1. 1. Re: [MATLOCK-L] More New Jersey Matlacks to Virginia
    2. Joe Matlock
    3. Hi Curt Spent the rest of the morning check old sources and they all would concur with the early death date of Joseph b. 25 Sep 1740. While no one had the date I found agreement that it was early. This of course mean the Julia Scott's husband Joseph needs a home. And an added weakness to the case for Joseph Matlack and Mary Carroll is the lack if would seem of information on the other children other than the names and maybe I have missed it...always a possibility. If then Joseph who marries Julia Scott is generally given a birthday of 1753 may we then look for a Joseph born about the same time for who I have no family. I believe that Richards son Joseph of 1751 would be a candidate, but here again have nothing but a name. What do you think? Joe Matlock "You were looking to see if Joseph's line lead to Joseph Matlack who married Julia Scott and had a son Joseph Scott Matlick. Joseph Matlack, son of William Matlack and Mary Hancock, was born in New Jersey, married Rebecca Haines, and moved to Goshen, Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1728. There is your Pennsylvania connection. Joseph and Rachel did have a son, Joseph, born 25 September, 1740. According to my information this Joseph died young. Both his birth date and the fact he died young say he could not have married Julia Scott and had a son Joseph born 7 March 1753. The documentation on the Haines family is excellent and agrees with my source on the Matlack family. The next time I am at the Gloucester County Historical Society I will look to see if I can find a Joseph Matlack who married Julia Scott in 1780." Descendants of Richard Matlack Generation No. 1 1. 2. Joe Matlock
    3. Good Morning Curt I concur with the 1825 death date. " Joseph Matlack married Harriet -?-. You may have Harriet's married name, not her maiden name. " I have also found reference to a wife name Christina, but yes while it does happen the Matlack is not likely the maiden name and I changed my records. Found one good source on William Lamb. 1. Re: [MATLOCK-L] More New Jersey Matlacks to Virginia
    2. Joe You your latest message you asked about two things, (1) John Matlack and Ann Furguson, and (2) Joseph Matlack (Joseph, Joseph, William, George Matlock, John). I assume the Grandfather, William, is the William Matlack who came to New Jersey in 1677 and married Mary Hancock. First I will deal with Joseph since this is new ground. What I have on John Matlack and Ann Furguson is at the end. You were looking to see if Joseph's line lead to Joseph Matlack who married Julia Scott and had a son Joseph Scott Matlick. The next time I am at the Gloucester County Historical Society I will look to see if I can find a Joseph Matlack who married Julia Scott in 1780. This is what I have on Joseph Matlack, son of William Matlack and Mary Hancock, and his wife Rebecca Haines. Descendants of Rebecca HAINES Generation No. 1 1. REBECCA3 HAINES (JOHN2, RICHARD1) was born April 10, 1705. She married JOSEPH MATLACK August 9, 1722 in Chester Meeting, Burlington Co. NJ, son of WILLIAM MATLACK and MARY HANCOCK. He died November 1771. Notes for JOSEPH MATLACK: Joseph and his wife moved to Goshen, Pa., in the year 1728. 2. Joe I finally got a chance to go down to the Gloucester County Historical Society to check the Thomas Chalkley Matlack microfilm for more information on Joseph Matlack, son of Timothy Matlack and Hester Eldridge in Virginia. All he had on Joseph was the name. Perhaps there are some Wills or probate records in Virginia that would help prove or disprove a connection between Joseph Matlick and Joseph Matlack/Matlock. While I was looking at the tapes I came across the following comment about Medean Matlack, son of John Matlack and Ann Furguson. "Medean married a woman in Virginia, he was a shoemaker and went about and it is thought he is now deceased." There are no dates or other information on him.
