Yes I looked at Littleberry, but Charles also had a son that fell in that age group.. Cant tell which man John Belongs to.. Brenda
I show a Young John, wife and son sitting in Franklin Co AL 1840, am wondering if anyone know who he is the son of? Brenda
I have no children for Charles....so have no idea if he had a John. But C. B. is on pg 256 or John lives 2 doors before L. B. (Littleberry). Brenda, Littleberry had a son John born about 1820; and he is listed on the same page as L. B. Don't know anything about John. Brenda, For Charles of Littleberry and Mary I just have the 1830 and 1840 census. Don't have any children or wife listed. But it appears they had a number of children. 1830 AL, Franklin Co, pg 027; Charles B. Joe, I do not know any of the Matlock's we seem to have lost them after Daisy married John Westly, or at least I have no pictures or references to that family. The only error I can find in what you sent was that John Westly was married to a Sara Jane "Jennie" Moore, not a Genevieve. I have copies of the handwritten copies of the family bible, here are the URL's http://home.comcast.net/~smitty1006/Moore_Bible_1.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~smitty1006/Moore_Bible_2.jpg It isn't totally clear as to who Mrs. Jennie Matlock is, but Sarah J. Matlock is born the same month as Mrs. Jennie Matlock and family oral history makes them the same person. Here is a picture of Daisy (in order left to right: Daisy Matlock Smith, Vera Smith, Lottie Dillinger and Debi Smith infant. http://home.comcast.net/~smitty1006/Daisy.jpg Looking at the infant I am saying this picture was taken soon after May of 1953. Joe and Claude First Joe I was reading your reply to Claude. As you stated Col. Timothy Matlack married first Ellen Yarnell on 5 October 1758. He married second Elizabeth Claypoole on 17 August 1797. Elizabeth was the widow of Norris Copper, a sea captain. I have seen Copper spelled a couple of ways but I believe Copper is the correct spelling. Here is the record of Timothys marriage to Elizabeth. Database: Pennsylvania Marriages to 1810 1797, Aug. 17, Copper, Eliz, and Timothy Matlack. Good Morning ClaudeYour fore father James Jason certainly did his best to populate East Tennessee. It would be hard to throw a rock in Roane county and not hit a cousin. Getting sued for paternity at age 47 is not that common. Colonel Timothy is indeed the scribe of the declaration and well published on several websites. He would be (provided we have all of this spliced together right)your Louisa's 2nd cousin 3 times removed, (He would be my 2nd cousin 8 times removed) .but aren't we all The Colonel, however is of the MATLACK branch of the family not Matlock. The Matlack Family Forum at Genfourm has had several excellent articles published concerning him and Curt Miller who reads and follows this list has made available large amounts of information as well and can point you to specific information. The Matlock family group and MSN.com publishes family pictures. carlyon.sue.mckinney@worldnet.att.net http://groups.msn.com/TheMatlockFamily/_emailsettings.msnw Good luck and let us know what you find. It is from an article in the History of Parker Co. (TX) submitted by a descendant of his and also another researcher several years ago. Both of them were Baptists ministers and Jr. married Candace to Absalom. Also, researchers who gave me John have good reasons but no proof. Moore on down are backed by census and descendants. Good Morning JulieYour John Wesley is not so much lost as unpublished. Your grandmother Daisy was quite right but she would not have first hand information as she was born (from what I have been able to find out) in California. Your real blind alley is John's grandfather Elisha Hosea Matlock. Very little is known or published about him other than his name and that of his sons. You might want to contact the two informants below as well. good luck in your search and please let the family know how you progressing. by the way are you in contact with any of the male descendent of your line who have the surname Matlock.
