Native American claims are addressed in two ways. Each of the Federally recognized tribes have a very good website that addresses these concerns. one is Paper work starting with the Dawes Roles and now DNA. Look at FamilyTreeDNA or Ysearch.com. I believe testing is now available that will indicate your Native American descendent. It will not prove her heritage only that a Native American line is mingled with yours. If you get more proven descendants involved then you can begin to exclude other persons as being Native American. Looks can be deceiving. Old photos may give indications but unless they are well documented they are indicators and not proof. Good morning All If my calculation are correct this makes Cecil and I, 7th cousins once removed. Of the eight samples submitted 6 are related by not more than one number difference, a statistic to be expected. If Kirk's comes back as a match we will only need to get a Matlack or two into the mix to either tie up a lot of loose end or to do a major rethink on the 1st arrivals and primary source documents. I show a Sarah Ann (this is from the 1850 census) as a daughter of Elijah and Lucy Morris. I believe, but cannot prove, that she married James White, younger brother of Elizabeth. James was b. 1835 and, from the census, it looks like Sarah Ann was born about 1838. Do you have any info on Sarah?

Margie Louise born about 1876 Amanda Pearl Mattie Matlock was sent to live with an Aunt and Uncle somewhere we think possibly OK. She ran away when she was about 14 and married Will Holt. We found their marriage record in MacAllister, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory. They were then found living out of a tent in Ouachita Parish Louisiana in the 1900 census. She at some point in her life ran a hotel. I don't know where she is when she is doing this. She met "The Kid", John Robert Bell, an auctioneer, from Drumwright, OK at some time in her life. We think she went back to OK sometime after 1900 when her husband Will died and that is when she met him. {I know I am rattling, but there is a point, trust me : )} She wound up coming to Ashley County, AR and marring John Robert Bell's brother, Isaac Bunyun, in 1908 or 1909, She was helping him raise his children from his previous marriage.
