Found on the Old Federal Road site: Joseph W. Blanton enlisted on 10th of April 1862 to serve for three years in the CSA He died at Oven Bluff on 23 Aug 1862 and is buried at MEDLOCK CEMETERY IN PERDUE HILL, MONROE COUNTY AL. Does anyone have info on a Robert Medlock who arrived in Virginia about 1648 ?
All I know of a Robert is that : Early Virginia Immigrants; 1623-1666 Madlock, Robert, 1638, by Thomas Clipwell, James City Co. I have never ran across anything about him other than that. I find it interesting that it was in James City Co Where John Medlocks Wife, Hester Watsons Father, William Watson was from. Ive wondered if perhaps John Medlock Sr and Jr were in James City Co Before going to New Kent Co,I know it wasnt until 1654 that New Kent Co became a County. The only thing that doesnt work out is that it appears that None of the New Kent Co Medlocks named any sons Robert that I know of. FYI, the images definitely fit on an 8.5x14" sheet of paper :) Jana Hi everyone, Lots of interest in those Bible pages, eh??? Well, I have uploaded the images so you can all go print yourselves copies... :) 1) Go to our "MATLOCK FAMILY in the USA" website: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~szmatlok/matlock_bible_records.htm 2) Click on "The Best of the MATLOCK Mailing List" link and then on BIBLE Records 3) you will see little images of the four pages from the copies I was sent. 4) Click on any image to see the full sized page... it will take awhile to load. I made the pictures as close to actual size as I could yet let them fit on a standard sized piece of paper (you may have to print out just page 2 if the header makes it flip to a second page). TIP: If your computer does not allow you to fit the image on one piece of paper, copy and paste the image into a word processor, then print it. Hope you all enjoy a look even if you don't want a print, the handwriting and spelling tells us lots about our forebears! :) Jana Black Matlock-L Mgr. Collaborator "MATLOCK FAMILY in the USA" website

Hi everyone, I am finally having time to go thru a box of "family data" I was given and I am uploading what seems pertinent. So far, I have posted on the GenConnect Boards: 1) John Matlock Family Bible (1802-1863) records (Wanda thinks this is John S. and Ellender Haggerty Matlock. He is son of William and Sarah (unknown) Matlock of Roane County, TN They moved on first to IN then on to IL) 2) Deed: John Hubbard to Charles Medlock - Hawkins Co., TN 1817 3) Documents Regarding Death of Charles Matlock - December 1833 IN 4) David Matlock Will - Iowa 1898 I am working on a timeline of the NC, SC, TN, IN families... will keep you posted... Jana
Jana, The bible record looks like that of John S. Matlock son of William Matlock Sr and Sarah Unknown. They were in Roane County, TN in the early 1800's. John and his family moved to IN about 1813/1814 and then to IL about 1830-1840. These births match up with what I have. John and Ellender Haggerty married in Roane County, TN. Good Morning Brenda I am always gratified at the response these discussions generate. I knew somebody listening had further information. The only information I had is from the much hard work Brenda has done in transcribing the census. I have reconstructed his chart almost completely from census sources and a few websites that mention him in passing. ( Are the charts anywhere close?) By the way my findings on names are the other way around as I have 74 Joseph's and only two Joab. Again thanks to both Brenda's for all of your help Joe Matlock >>> Brenda Curtis <[email protected]> 05/05/01 01:06AM >>> Hi Brenda and Joe - As a descendant of Joab, b. 1781 (through Steven), I am very interested in this line of discussion. I don't know who or when he married, but he had four children under 10 in 1830. Joseph is not a common name in the Matlock line, but I have found a surprising number of Joabs "in the neighborhood" and Sally named her eldest son Joab. Hi Ive ran across a Joab Matlock 1870 MO Says he is 40 and was born in VA. His wife is Catherine, Their oldest son, George was born in KS 1859. In 1860 Joab and Catherine are in KS.In 1860 The Spelling for Matlock was Mattock. Their other children are Alice, Sherman, Nettie and Cary Ann. I know in Lee Co VA there was a Joab Matlock son of John and I am wondering If perhaps this Joab born about 1830 is a son of the older Joab? Anyone working on the VA Matlocks know whos son this Joab could be? Brenda
That's possible I guess. I'm not sure where the 1718 death of John Sr. comes from. But it's also possible that one or the other John wasn't in New Kent Count, VA. in 1704. Either one may have left and then come back. Most probably John Jr. if that were truly the case.
