Author: cmcfete Surnames: Button, French Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.massachusetts.counties.suffolk/8015/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I am trying to determine whether Mary Button of Guilford, CT, who married Thomas French, of Charlestown and then Guilford, CT, is the daughter of Sir Thomas Button of Bedford, England and Boston, MA (1599-1681). There is some research that suggests that Thomas Button was married to a Grace Button and that they were, in fact, the parents of the Mary Button who married Thomas French. Other research I have found suggests that Mary was the daughter of a different Thomas Button, and there has been speculation about the obvious difference in the handwriting of the two gentlemen of the same time...Also, the observation that, had Sir Thomas had children, they were not named clearly in his will...
