    1. [MASUFFOL] Death lookup for Francis COOK(E), Roxbury, 1910-1920 please
    2. Susan Daily
    3. Hello, I just subscribed to the Suffolk and Boston lists, as I continue my research into the Boston area for various relatives. I wondered if anyone is presently volunteering to do lookups at the MA State Archives for vital records after 1910? I believe people can lookup to 1915, now. I am hoping someone can find a death record for Frank and his wife Mary, both of them in the 1910 census, but not in the 1920 census. If anyone happens to be doing research in the vital records office for records after 1915, will you see if you can find a death for these two? I have included everything I know about them below. Thanks so much for any help. Susan Daily Missouri This is my Family Group Sheet for Frank Cook: ========================================================= Husband: Francis "Frank" Cook ========================================================= AKA: Francis Cooke Born: Dec 1857 - Sunnaghmore, Cloone, Leitrim, Ireland Baptized: 14 Dec 1857 - Cloone (Saint Mary's Chapel), Cloone, Leitrim, Ireland Died: Bef 1920 Buried: Father: John Cooke (1826-1905) Mother: Anne Baxter (Abt 1830-1914) Marriage: 4 Sep 1890 Place: Brighton (Saint James), Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Events -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. He was the godfather to his sister Elizabeth on 20 May 1873 in Cloone (Saint Mary's Chapel), Cloone, Leitrim, Ireland. 2. He immigrated aboard the S. S. Catalonia from Queenstown on 21 Sep 1885 to Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA. He said he was age 22 and a cooper. He was in the FP Steerage Deck and brought one piece of luggage with him. There were 411 passengers on board ship, some originating from Liverpool. 3. He worked as a potter in 1890. 4. He had a residence from 1890 to 1895 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA. In 1895, his cousin Rosa Cooke came to visit him while he was living at an address (hard to read) like 379 Fireman St. 5. He was the godfather to his nephew, Francis Joseph Cook, on 15 Oct 1893 in South Boston (Gate of Heaven), Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA. 6. He received his United States naturalized citizenship before 1900. 7. He worked as a bottler for a liquor dealer in 1900. 8. He resided at 61 Centre Court from 1900 to 1910 in Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA. He and his wife rented the apartment from his brother-in-law, Nicholas Leen, who owned and lived in the house, and after his death, from his widow, Margaret (who was still there in 1920 with just a son). 9. He worked as a clerk from 1904 to 1905 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA. He was working at 16 Canal Street, which was on Haymarket Square. 10. He worked as a foreman at a liquor store in 1910. ========================================================= Wife: Mary Leen ========================================================= Born: Jun 1859 - Ireland Baptized: Died: Bef 1920 Buried: Father: Nicholas Leen (Est 1830- ) Mother: Frances "Fanny" (Est 1830- ) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Events -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. She immigrated in 1869. In 1910, she thought she emigrated in 1871. But her brother emigrated in 1882, which seems more reasonable since her family was not in the 1870 or 1880 census. 2. She worked as a domestic in 1890. She lived in Boston. ========================================================= Children ========================================================= 1 U (Infant) Cook Born: Bef 1900 Baptized: Died: Infant Buried: Spouse: Marr. Date: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ========================================================= Baptism Notes (Husband) ========================================================= His godparents were his father's uncle, Nicholas Cooke, and Bridget Gannon. ========================================================= Research Notes (Wife) ========================================================= Oddly, in 1910, Mary says she had 6 children born, 3 living, but none are living with them! But in 1900, after 10 years of marriage, she only had given birth to one child, not living. ========================================================= Notes (Marriage) ========================================================= The ceremony was performed by the Rev. John J. Nilan. (He later became the Bishop of Hartford in 1910.) Their witnesses were her brother Nicholas Lean and Margaret Keegan, perhaps a friend or neighbor from County Leitrim.
