Among the questions asked was birthplace, name of father and maiden name of mother. I am in no position to guarantee that all questions were always answered or if they were truthful. The Social Security Administration charges a hefty fee ($27.00) for a copy of any decedent's SS-5 and it may take several months to arrive. To order one, find the person's entry on the Rootsweb version of the SSDI, then click on "SS-5 Letter" on the right-hand side. Then print out the letter displayed on your screen and mail it with the fee to the SSA. Reg Niles
