    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZFB.2ACI/4075.1 Message Board Post: You could try writing to the individual chuches in Boston to see if they have the record. There is no centralized index for Catholic baptisms in Boston. There is a centralized location for records at the Archdiocese Archives, but they ask you to provide more details about date & location, i.e. name of the church or address where they resided, when requesting a record copy in order to help them locate it. You might want to still give them a try. . . details for requesting records from the Archives are at http://www.rcab.org/Archives/geneology_resources.html#WrittenRequests The Archidiocese also consolidated some churches a couple of yrs. ago, so some were closed. I know one that was closed was in downtown. Most likely, a nearby church inherited its records. For a list of churches currently in Boston go to http://www.rcab.org/Parish/HomePage.html As we're assuming the baptism was around downtown Boston, select Boston under "List Parishes for Selected City." It will give you a list of churches. Click on the church name to get its address. A couple of notes. . . I wouldn't consider the one listed in Dorchester to be "downtown" (but there was a lot of Irish living in Dorchester) & I know St. Leonard is an Italian parish.
