Hi, Sue, If you get a minute, will you look for the Catholic church that the following priest was associated with? Rev. William J. Corcoran -h. 75 Albany St. - Boston City Directory -1870 Fr. Corcoran presided at the marriage of my ggrandparents, Wm. O'Connor, and Margaret McCarty in Sept. 1870. Thanks, Ann
Ann, Take a look at http://www.damrellsfire.com/cgi-bin/bookviewer.pl?b=7&p=188. The main website http://www.damrellsfire.com/cgi-bin/directory_search.pl has either full contents or just names for seven Boston City Directories to include the one you want. The 1870 city directory has the complete contents. Click on that and look for Church and Ministries on the left, click on it. The churches are listed in order of domination, so the Roman Catholic churches start onpage 188. In the right-side column, the sixth entry of St. James is on Harvard corner of Albany. I believe that is the church you are looking for.
