St. Mary's parish is a wonderful old parish. They have some of the most beautiful granite monuments in their cemetery, including an unbelievably beautiful granite column that must stand twenty five feet tall, cut for one of the monument dealers family plot. I like to walk around there from time to time. My G G G'parents, my GG'parents, one of their sons 9 Flu Victim), ... and my own parents are also buried there. The Willard school was turned into office condo's. Too bad. The City of Quincy now wishes it had kept the school and renovated it. They are in a bind trying to find classrooms for the bulging neighborhoods. Schools ain't cheap, first, to build, second to staff, and third, to supply, and lastly, to maintain. There still were some small quarries in operation, then, I believe. Most had closed by the war, but there were still several monument dealers and stone yards still in operation. Do you recall ? Joe
