Re: another Sharp family. No I haven't yet. I've been looking around for information on them. Samuel Sharp - birth location varies between N Brunswick and Calais Maine. When I researched this area in Maine, it's right on the boarder of Canada. I was able to find a 1850 Census from Calais Maine with a "Samuel Sharp" age 12. on family search. It listed parents and siblings. The siblings names are the same ones for the Samuel & Hannah -- Martha, Harriet, Mary (mother listed), Henry etc.... I have a suspect this is them. What are your thoughts? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Enumerator could've taken it down wrong, a neighbor could've given info, etc. I had one relative that drove me up a wall - different birthplace every census - finally found his mom's info saying she came to US in 1828(found it in two different documents) - so that means he(her son) was born here and I just couldn't find his birth rec in Mass. Have you every found another Samuel and Hannah Sharp?? Margaret Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My brother is with my grandparents because at the time it was just easier for him to be buried with them. I did look at the archives and noticed that it was an index. Was able to obtain more information from familysearch. Margaret, could I ask you another question? Do u know if there is additional information on the death of Thomas H Sharp Mar 1885 age 17. I was only able to locate that from family search. Interested to know what he passed from. Also, based on your suggestions, I was able to contact Holy Cross Cem. They have both Jeremiah and Mary (Sharp) OBrien, interesting that they are buried in different plots. Any thoughts on that? For example, search for all deaths for the year 1854 in the town of Roxbury at the Archives index and it is missing last names beginning with C-F and H-Q. I believe the same holds true for NEHGS. But, it is a quick way for a person without a membership at NEHGS or Ancestry.com to check the index and narrow down the possibilities before posting a query. FamilySearch.org does NOT have all of 1841-1910 online. I have found many that are missing and have had to go to NEHGS to get the images. If someone tells you they do, they have their head in the sand. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If it lists the church, you could write to them for records, sometimes the church records will give you the person's name that stood up for them. It is free to all. FamilySearch.org is currently working on digitizing all of the 1841-1910 and 1911-1915 records and making them freely available to everyone.
