    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: MARSHALL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZFB.2ACI/4065 Message Board Post: As a hobby, I rescue old photos that have identification of the subject/s on them. This one is of a nine month old baby boy, identified as Lewis Keith Marshall. The inscription says: Kewis Keith Marshall. Nine months old-with love to his dear Godfather. Below, I'm guessing it's the photographers (most unusual) information. Looks to be hand written and in silver ink, with four, 4 leaf clovers around it, with an address. It is: Emily Stokes, 88 Boyston St. Boston. I'd like to locate family to return this to. All I ask is what I paid for it, postage and the cost of a sturdy mailer (usually the mailer is less than $1.) Contact me at: [email protected]

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZFB.2ACI/4062.1 Message Board Post: I'm not finding him in census...have you found him in the 1930 census? The 1930 census has an entry asking if a veteran. Unless he enlisted, he should have a WWI Draft Reg Card, which would give you an accurate DOB. You don't say where he was living, only where you think he might have died. It's possible he was living in RI, NH, etc & came to Boston to use the VA facility. If, in fact, he did actually die in Boston while in hospital there should also be a record of death in his local city/town (at least that's how MA does it). There are oodles of Alfred Lemieux's in New England. Do you have a middle name or initial for this man?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZFB.2ACI/4012.1.1 Message Board Post: I checked the Social Security Death Index http://ssdi.rootsweb.com but did not find Albert. However, there were six hits for the surname DESTOOP (no space). Only one of the six has a Massachusetts connection shown. If you had the time to wait for an answer, you could post a free annotation to her entry and ask about relatives of Albert. It might be a good idea to include your permanent address because it might take years before anyone opens and reads your annotation. To add an annotation, find the relevant entry on the SSDI, then click on "Add Post-em" on the right-hand side. Reg Niles

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZFB.2ACI/4026.1 Message Board Post: Most women die while using a married surname. If Michelena had or has one, you might know about it. Otherwise, consider looking at the Social Security Death Index http://ssdi.rootsweb.com which has five hits for women named Michelena born in the 1920s (I used a wild card on the Advanced Search: 192*) who were issued their Social Security card in Massachusetts. It would be expensive ($27.00 each) to obtain the names of their parents. To do so, click on "SS-5 Letter" on the right-hand side of each entry. Then print out the letter displayed on your screen (for each decedent) and mail it with the fee to the SSA. Reg Niles

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZFB.2ACI/4035.1.1 Message Board Post: Everyone on the Social Security Death Index was asked to fill-out an SS-5 form when applying for his card. Among the questions asked was birthplace, name of father and maiden name of mother. I am in no position to guarantee that all questions were always answered or if they were truthful. The Social Security Administration charges a hefty fee ($27.00) for a copy of any decedent's SS-5 and it may take several months to arrive. To order one, find the person's entry on the Rootsweb version of the SSDI, then click on "SS-5 Letter" on the right-hand side. Then print out the letter displayed on your screen and mail it with the fee to the SSA. Reg Niles

The SSDI never gives the place of death. I do not know if going to one of their offices and begging for the place of death will be effective. For those who read this board and wish to copy this technique, let me remind you that people in the future may do a computer search seeking entities by their official names, and they will not find your queries. Depending on the search engine, your query might be neglected if you add the plural S at the end of a relevant surname. And the expression 1802/03 will not respond to a search for 1803. Reg Niles P.S. What do genealogists think of this expression: "turn of the century" without further definition?

I have no idea what became of Ellen Rose. Walter Rose married Ida Keegan and they had 2 children that I know of, but never spread the word that he, Walter, had siblings. He "never mentioned them." I have no idea what ever became of Elizabeth Rose. The only info I have on John H Rose is that in the 1920 Census, it shows that he was a fireman and staying at the Chelsea Navel Hospital in Massachusetts. I have no idea what ever happened to him after that. So that is all I have right now. I am happy to have names, but I would like very much to know what happened to them. Any info or thoughts are greatly appreciated

Surnames: Lemiuex Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZFB.2ACI/4055 Message Board Post: I'm looking for info on great uncle, Alfred Lemieux, b. in Maine 1884, died in MA, supposedly at VA hospital in Boston. Unsure of exact location. He was injured working on tunnels in NYC. Not sure of the year. For some reason, he ended up at VA hospital in MA. I have no record of him being a veteran. I have no date of death. I have a marriage, with spouse and date, but no other info. He might have been buried at Potter's Field, cemetery for poor. I don't want to go the NARA route to seek military info, since I don't think he served. Can't figure how he ended up at VA location. Don't know why he'd be in Potter's Field, with family in Maine. I can't send for death cert, as MA requires date of death. Does anyone have suggestion for me? Do you think the VA would look him up and give me date of death via phone? I am the only family left to resolve the mystery of this poor soul. I feel he deserves to have someone care enough to look up his info, if nothing else, bu! t for family history. Thanks...
