    2. That is what I'm trying to find out. Did Ann die, if so when/where? Maybe she wasn't able, for whatever reason to care for the girls. Also who on earth is Bessie? That's a new name with this family, at least I haven't run across it yet. Thank you Barbara

    3. I have used this company in the past. Not sure what time periods they cover, but it it looks like they might be able to get you what you need. I believe it cost me about $20.00 for an early 20th century Boston death cert. Good luck. http://www.vitalchek.com/?clicked=1<http://www.vitalchek.com/?clicked=1> ----- Original Message ----- From: Dora Smith<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 20, 2006 5:53 PM Subject: [MASUFFOL] need to find researcher to do a lookup in Boston I need to find a researcher to do a lookup in the state vital records office for me. I tried a couple of people listed on one of the national genealogical society web sites, and haven't heard back from them. I called the Boston public library, and the librarian in the social science section - they don't even have a separate genealogy section, which is hard to imagine in a place like Boston, told me they don't have such a list, she told me to look at two national genealogists' web sites, and she also told me that the city of Boston has NO local genealogical society. I mean, come on, even Austin, Texas, has that! Thanks! Yours, Dora Smith Austin, TX [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 3. If you look closely, you'll note that the May, 1896 date seems to be for the PETITION for citizenship, or Declaration of Intent. The September, 1896 date would appear to be for the final papers. The certificate dated in October MAY be just the date the certificate was prepared, and issued. You'd have to look at it again to be sure. Another thing you might do is check with the NARA center in Waltham, and have them double check for you. They are very nice and awfully good. They might even do it all through email, if you can give them all the information. Good Luck, Ann

Does that mean she didn't die with that name in Massachusetts in that time period? 3. Jackie, she was last known of in 1946. The 1930 census tells me she was living then, too, but it does not tell me what happened to her after 1946. She isn't in the social security index, probably because she did not collect social security. Many people who died before the mid 1970's are not in the social security death index, including my grandfather, and both my father's parents. She also would not be in the social security death index under her last known name if she had remarried, which again has to be researched in the bmd records. Thanks for your offers, folks, but I actually have done thorough research, and I specifically need to search the bmd records. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZFB.2ACI/4075.1 Message Board Post: You could try writing to the individual chuches in Boston to see if they have the record. There is no centralized index for Catholic baptisms in Boston. There is a centralized location for records at the Archdiocese Archives, but they ask you to provide more details about date & location, i.e. name of the church or address where they resided, when requesting a record copy in order to help them locate it. You might want to still give them a try. . . details for requesting records from the Archives are at http://www.rcab.org/Archives/geneology_resources.html#WrittenRequests The Archidiocese also consolidated some churches a couple of yrs. ago, so some were closed. I know one that was closed was in downtown. Most likely, a nearby church inherited its records. For a list of churches currently in Boston go to http://www.rcab.org/Parish/HomePage.html As we're assuming the baptism was around downtown Boston, select Boston under "List Parishes for Selected City." It will give you a list of churches. Click on the church name to get its address. A couple of notes. . . I wouldn't consider the one listed in Dorchester to be "downtown" (but there was a lot of Irish living in Dorchester) & I know St. Leonard is an Italian parish.

This year could be the year you make a break through! As the co-administrator of the Gross Family DNA Project, I want to personally extend an invitation to you. The Gross Family DNA project covers the Grose, Gros, Groce, Groze, Gross, Grossman and other variations of the surname Gross. Simply go to the following link and explore what is has to offer: http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=Q29726&special=true You must be (or find a known relative to be) a direct male descendant of your specific family with the Gross surname(or varation) for the Y-DNA test. You may also test your maternal DNA if your mother was a Gross(or variation). The purpose of the DNA website is so that researchers can determine if they are genectically related to and to prove or disprove family pedigrees. Here is an additional link to answer some common questions: http://www.ftdna.com/faq.html There are already researchers that have had their DNA tested and are waiting to connect. Why wait? Check the site out, request your kit and see if you can break through that brick wall and confirm your research. Hope you'll join! Thanks, Jerry Gross

In 1927 they were living in Arlington, Ma. I did ask Arlington Police if they had any missing persons reports and they said that back then all they have is a log book, but no reports. Also, another father I forgot to list, again, not knowing which u were asking for.. Raphael was the son of Joseph and Jennie (Manganaro) Fardella of New York. By the way, Raphael did say at one time that Florence had taken the baby and left. He said that she left him for "Jack". (Jack could stand for John etc, no idea who Jack is) It was also said that she may have gone to New York because she had family there, regardless, nothing was ever found on her or the baby after 1927. They just disappeared.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZFB.2ACI/4060.2.1 Message Board Post: I'm not sure which father you are referring to.. :~) Florence Bilodeau was the daughter of Ida Benoit and Alfred Bilodeau. (I have her birth certificate) Florence married Raphael Fardella in 1921. (I have thier marriage license) Amelia's parents were Florence and Raphael, but with Amelia dissappearing she may not know who her father was seeing she did not see him since 1. (I have Amelia's birth certificate as well) As for Leo, I have no idea who his father was. Leo and Francis were born prior to Florence marrying Raphael. Francis (Uncle Frank) went by Bilodeau, his mother's maiden name. He refused to talk about his mother or what happened the day Raphael brought him and Leo to the orphanage, all he said was that they were brought there, but under the name Fardella because that was Raphael's last name. He had no idea what ever happened to Leo. We have never found him. I wonder if his biological father found out where he was and came and got him, but for some reason or another did not get Frank, I have no idea. Maybe he was adopted, or being older, maybe ran away.
