I've heard that it's not such a nice neighborhood anymore. You never know, though, as neighborhoods go down and come back up again. I don't have any pictures of the street, but you may call the Boston Public Library or the New England Historical and Genealogical Society. You might also try the Boston Globe. (newspaper). Do you have the kind of phone service where you pay a base amount and get any amount of calls you want to make? If I think of anything else, I'll let you know. Ella, My late husband's family lived on Lamartine around that time. Unfortunately, I haven't yet pinpointed a year and there is no one left to ask. The name was Landenberger. Irene- What was the first name of the Landenbergers? I may be able to find them in the 1930 census. Ann
Ella, Can't help with the directory, but had to mention that my daughter was living at 302 Lamartine last year while she was in school out there. She shared a lovely old house with a couple of roommates. As they say: it's a small world! Hi, Ella - I don't have access to the city directories, but in the 1930 census, the family was at 267 Lamartine St. There were two other families at the same address, so I'd assume it was an apartment house. Since they were there in 1930, and you have them there in 1932, they were probably there in 1931. There were two children, Frederick, Jr. aged 3 yr, 2 mo., and Adele, aged 2 yr, 1 mo., and Frederick did work for the postoffice. Hope this helps, Ann

It's available through a LDS Family History Centre and also your local public library might have a subscription to the service. You might also request a census lookup if you haven't received any census info as yet. Any church records would be in the local parishes. Regards. Eilís O'Hara

However, some of the records you seek may be available from NARA (National Archives) for $10. I have been successful often times by e-mailing them with my request. Provide all the information indicated on the card from the Naturalization Index. Use the Genealogy Contact: http://www.archives.gov/northeast/boston/contacts.html Good Luck! Nancy

Hi Pat, If your John Stephenson naturalized to the U.S. there would be a record. You might try NARA (The National Archives: http://www.archives.gov/index.html) to see if they have a naturalization record for him. If he didn't naturalize, there may be no record of his travels. Stephenson is listed in Boston living with his son, William John Stephenson. He says he is 82 years old and came to Boston from N.B.in 1892.(he was born in Ireland.) My question is would there be a record of this somewhere, or did people just come and go from Canada to the U.S.? If there were a record, where would it likely be?Pat Davis in Alabama --------------------------------- Yahoo! Messenger with Voice.
