Here's the list: (these photos are available upon request) LIST OF PHOTOS AVAILABLE - SALUDA HILL BAPTIST CHURCH - PICKENS, SC (Numbers represent the photos in order as they were given to me.) I have included parent and some grandparent info on the photos listed. The surnames below include parent names as well. If anyone can provide info where the ? marks are listed, I sure would appreciate your letting me know! SURNAMES: Allen, Allison, Ashworth, Burgess, Cassell, Clark, Ferguson, Masters, McJunkin, Nix, Patterson, Sawyer, Shield 8. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - side view of church 10. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of John King Masters (12-23-1876/6-23-1967) and wife Angie Ferguson (2-2-1880/3-4-1970). (Note: John King Masters was the son of John Masters, Jr. and Nancy Rebecca McJunkin and Angie Ferguson was the daughter of ?) 12. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Double Gravestone - one side is Infant Son of J. and N.R. Masters Born and Died 2-15-1866 (Note: This was the son of John Masters, Jr. and Nancy Rebecca McJunkin) 13. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Double Gravestone - other side is M.R. Son of J. and N.R. Masters Born 12-6-1868 Died 11-23-1872 (Note: M.R. was also the son of John Masters, Jr. and Nancy Rebecca McJunkin. Not sure what the initials stand for. Does anybody know?) 14. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Lucenda Masters, daughter of J.F. and Zealie Masters (Note: No dates on marker. She was the daughter of James Floyd Masters and Zealie Ann Cassell.) 15. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Jahue Masters, son of J.F. and Zealie Masters (Note: No dates on marker. Jahue was the son of James Floyd Masters and Zealie Ann Cassell) 16. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Vinie Masters, daughter of J.F. and Zealie Masters (Note: No dates on marker. Vinie was the daughter of James Floyd Masters and Zealie Ann Cassell) 17. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Nancy R. Masters (2-19-1838/12-11-1911) (Note: Nancy was the wife of John Masters, Jr. and the daughter of ?) 18. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of John Masters (6-10-1818/12-11-1896) (partially broken) (Note: John Masters, Jr. was the son of John Masters and Edith "Edy" Sawyer, grandson of Thomas Masters and Margaret Shield - my 7th gr-grandparents.) 19. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of John Masters (the other part of the stone which reads:) "He served as a member of Saluda Hill Baptist Church for ?4 years. Leaves his beloved wife and a large number of children and friends to mourn him. Remember friends as you pac? As you are now once was I, as I am now, you will be ???? for dea?" 20. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of J. Floyd Masters (12-13-1843/2-10-1917) and Zealie Ann Cassell (10-11-1852/7-11-1940). (Note: James Floyd Masters was the son of William M. Masters and Temperance Cassell, and Zealie Ann Cassell was the daughter of John Friendly Cassell and Millie Allen. Zealie was Temperance's half-sister.) 23. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of C. Masters (Born and Died 1-10-1908) (Note: C. Masters was the child of ?) 24. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of J.M.G. Masters (8-19-1877/5-31-1905) (Note: James McKay G. "Kay" Masters was the son of James Floyd Masters and Zealie Ann Cassell. He married Ellis Clark, daughter of Thomas Wesley Clark and Mary Jane Burgess . He died young, so she re-married to his first cousin, Luther Masters, son of John Calhoun Masters and Nancy Omy Ashworth. Ellis is buried with her husband Luther in the C.C. Whitmire Cemetery in Transylvania County, NC) 25. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Double Gravestone of Leander L. Masters (5-12-1878/4-19-1957) and wife Callie C. Masters (6-18-1880/8-27-1970) (Note: Leander Lee Masters was the son of ?, and wife Callie Cassell Masters was the daughter of Ephraim Cassell and Catherine Carolyn Masters. ) 28. Saluda Hills Baptist Church - Double Gravestone of Ben Masters (2-10-1880/2-2-1970) and wife Claudia Allison (9-4-1884/3-14-1961). This is a photo of his side of the stone. 29. Saluda Hills Baptist Church - Double Gravestone of Ben Masters and wife Claudia Allison. This is a photo of her side of the stone. (Note: Ben Masters was the son of ?, and Claudia Allison was the daughter of ?) 30. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Henry Loss Masters (12-7-1914/3-8-1969) (Note: Henry Loss Masters was the son of Ben "Blue Buck" Masters and Pamelia Patterson.) 31. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Abraham L. (Lincoln) Masters (2-7-1863/9-23-1946) (Note: "Linc" was my 3rd gr-grandfather. He was the illegitimate son of Ephraim Cassell (who was the son of John Friendly Cassell and Fanny Wilson) and Susan Masters (daughter of Thomas Masters and Nancy Cassell - Ephraim's half-sister). Ephraim was married at the time to Catherine Carolyn Masters (daughter of William M. Masters and Temperance Cassell - also Ephraim's half- sister), so Susan kept their son, hence his last name being Masters. She later (still while Linc was an infant and since she was an unwed mother) gave him to her brother, Ben "Blue Buck" Masters and his new wife, Pamelia Patterson, to raise as their own. I have info from the Thomas Masters and Nancy Cassell Bible.) 32. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of "Infants of E. and C. Master Cassell" (Note: These were the children of Ephraim Cassell and Catherine Carolyn Masters. Ephraim was my 4th gr-grandfather.) 33. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Alfred Cassell (1859-1964 or 1864 - it looks like the 19 in 1964 had been changed to 18.) (Note: Alfred was the son of ?. I assume he was a son of Ephraim and Catherine.) 34. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Cora Josephine Masters (3-20-1890/11-3-1895) (Note: Cora Josephine Masters was the daughter of Ben "Blue Buck" Masters and Pamelia Patterson - Ben was my 5th gr-uncle.) 36. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Ben "Blue Buck" Masters (March 1845/June 1908) and wife Pamelia P. (March 1852/no death date listed - but my records show that she died 3-24-1912). (Note: Ben "Blue Buck" Masters was the son of Thomas Masters and Nancy Cassell. Wife Pamelia Patterson was the daughter of Asa Patterson and Eleanor "Neely" Nix.) 37. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - "Grave Spot In A Square" was the title of this e-mail to me. Here's the explanation from Melanie Davis: "ok look at this picture and see the square plot like spot in the cemetery that is where Ben , Pamelia and cora are buried..like there own family lot...i wanted u to see how it was layed out...there seems to be another grave there but no words on the stone..the one on the very end..." 39. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of W.A. Masters (10-30-1839/2-20-1918). (Note: This is William Abner Masters, son of William M. Masters and Temperance Cassell.) 40. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of J.H. Masters (4-10-1834/2-10-1880) (Note: This is John H. Masters, son of William M. Masters and Temperance Cassell.) 41. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of Temperance Cassell Masters (2-29-1816/3-30-1884) (Note: Temperance was married to William M. Masters and was the daughter of John Friendly Cassell and Millie Allen.) 42. Saluda Hill Baptist Church - Gravestone of William M. Masters (1807/stone is broken and has been patched together with some sort of clay. The date of death is not legible. However, my records state that his date of death was 6-24-1891.) (Note: William M. Masters was the son of John Masters and ?; grandson of Thomas Masters and Margaret Shield - my 7th gr-grandparents. I have an extensive file on the ancestors and descendants of William M. Masters - which includes my family line, and is comprised of my own research as well as the research of others. Sources are cited in some places - but not all. I'm willing to share this file.) I hope this helps someone!!!
