In response to family search for MASTERS -- my great grandfather, Mason H. Masters was born in 1844 in Alabama - He was the fifth child born to John Masters and Zilpha Johnston. John Masters (1792-1857) born in South Carolina, married Zilpha Johnston, born in 1815 in North Carolina, on May 18, 1834 in Montgomery County, Alabama. Very little is known about Mason's parents. He married Mattie Harverston on Nov, 13, 1873, in Grimes county, Texas. My grandmother, Maggie Arvizna Masters was the third child of this union .
