Hi Faye, Thanks for responding. It never hurts to ask about relationships though. George does seem to be a very common Masters name, doesn't it? Maybe one of these days, I'll find a connection to someone who has more information than I do. Good luck with the rest of your search! Hi, Faye, I am always interested in any George Masters in England in the 1800's. My great grand father was George Masters (no middle name found yet) born in England about 1868 but I'm not sure where. He married Annette Tull in Burton on Trent (Staffordshire) in 1887. My grandfather George Harold Masters was born in Burton on Trent (I believe) in 1891 (acc the family Bible and social security records), although I have found records on the internet from England indicating 1896 that might not be official. His brother, Richard Dudley Masters was born in Burton on Trent in 1894. My father, George Dudley Masters was born in Ontario in 1916. I know that it was before 1913 though. We aren't sure when George Masters and his two sons, George and Richard moved to Ontario, but we do know that Annette Tull Masters stayed behind in England with daughters. I have only found our George Masters (about 1868, England) connected to Annette Tull and have no idea which George Masters he was because there are so many. I have been unable to trace back any further than that because no middle name was listed. I keep hoping that someone will have a link even with the sketchy information that I have. Note: It seems very likely that the above household relaes to our client's family, though at this stage we cannot entirely rule out the possibility of a coincidence. However, we know that our client's great-grandfather was the son of John Masters, a labourer, and if he was indeed born on the 28th May 1832 he would have been aged exactly 9 years on the date of the 1841 census-6th June 1841. In any event it was apparent that the former was born at Milton Abbot, Devon, abt. 1836 or 1837, and so we inspected this parish in the records of the 1841 census, the earliest of genealogical benefit. We located a Masters household of 1841." I hope this helps you. My cousin had a search done in London, England in 1984. These are 2 of the census that were in a letter written to him. The purpose of these mailing lists are to ask questions, make comments and share information regarding our Masters ancestors. One should not be afraid to do any of the above. Sometimes what might seem out of place to one person, can be either a tidbit of information or an important link to another. One suggestion. The Ancestry/Rootsweb Masters surname board is linked to this list. When an item is posted on this board, it is automatically forwarded to this list. We can not stop that, nor want to, and in ways it is good for us. If you have a comment to make to the poster, you need to do it thru the surname board...not the list. If these emails don't apply to you, just delete it. Any questions, please feel free to contact me. Dave Masters dmasters@houston.quik.com List Administrator
