If you look on 1870 census for st lawrence co, ny (its online), it lists Samuel at age 38, which would be correct for him, also listing Aurelia, age 15, Nellie, age 6, and Jane, age 2/12?. Have any idea who they might be?

The year would be abt 1847-48. >From his marriage in 1870 in London, I know that his father is John MASTERS, occupation Coachman. I have not yet found any more information about his family and am currently looking for him in the 1871 census to see if I can find out what parish he may be living in. Do your Masters have any ties to Yorkshire or the parish of Christchurch, Spitalfields in the Whitechapel district of London? This is where Henry married. In particular did the John you mention spend any time in London or Yorkshire?
There are two Clara Masters born c1876 out there. Clara B Masters was my great aunt who married 1. Cunningham and 2 Mortimer. Her family was in the Howard-Canisteo area of Steuben Co., NY from 1828 to present. She has been the family mystery but I now have many facts on her life. Also a photo, thanks to one of her grandaughters. Anyone tie in to this Clara? Please e-mail me.

Michael's grandmother was Anna Masters, daughter of Samuel and Amelia. According to Michael's cousin, (haven't been able to verify yet), Samuel's parents (Samuel and Margaret) came to this country from Paris. Margaret was English. They came over in 1833 and their son Samuel was born on the ship. Exact birthdate for Samuel is 2/9/1833. The first Samuel died 5/5/1870 and is buried in Kendrew Cemetary in the Dekalb area of upstate NY. Who do you have as the children of Samuel and Amelia? We're still very new to this, as Michael had no knowledge of any of his family until 2 years ago when we found his aunt in NY by way of the Internet and we have been visiting up there for the past 2 summers. We visited the cemetery in Hailesboro, NY where a good many of them are buried. Looking forward to hearing from you-I tried sending by your listed email address but it said the account was closed. Thanks, Suzanne

Dear Listers, This is my first posting to your list. I recently sent the following to the Kent List with no results so..................hope you will be able to help. Masters Mystery in Sittingbourne. <<Frederick MASTERS b. 9 Jan 1867 in Sittingbourne, Kent d. 2 May 1941 in Sittingbourne, Kent married to Emily PACKER b. 14 Feb. 1867 Sittingbourne, d. 3 Nov. 1950 Sittingbourne. They had one known child: REGINALD MASTERS who was born in 1912 and died in 1980 in Sittingbourne. We know that Reginald married. I have a photograph of the wedding........bride looks rather subdued, all the relatives are surrounding the couple, a typical wedding photo from around the 1930's. But, the family story is that the bride disappeared shortly after the wedding.....................they say, the next day....never to be seen again!! I vaguely remember Reginald from when I was a child, he seemed very old but was probably no more than 50! He never remarried and lived alone until the time of his death. Anyone have the name of the missing bride?>> If any of the above rings a bell, I would love to hear from you. I have received several emails in reference to a message from a subscriber [that was IMMEDIATELY unsubscribed] who used very crude language requesting to be taken off.. This is a list for MASTERS family researchers, and from the most part since its inception has had very civilized participants. From my standpoint, I have "met" very knowledgeable people thru this list. Upon subscribing, each person is sent a email outlining the purpose of the list, letting them know they have been subscribed, and given instructions on how to unsubscribe. I have further offered to unsubscribe them if they would politely let me know. Should anyone want to leave the list, you may contact me and I'll remove you IMMEDIATELY; but I would ask that you not insult those on this list that are serious about family research.
