Doyle, Unless there were two Richard Masters in Orange County, NY, Richard, after serving in the NY milita and appearing in the 1790 census, moved his family to and owned land in Greenbrier county, Virginia (now WV) in the late 1790's, following his eldest son, Thomas there. About 1810 he and his wife Isabella Campbell and some but not all of his children moved on to Warren county, Kentucky, where he died and is buried in Zion cemetery near Woodbury, on land he donated to his church. He may have been a son of Richard of Sussex county because he also named a son Clement; however, Dorothy Masters in her "The American Clan of Richard Masters and Isabella Campbell ..." (1986), puts forth an idea that he emigrated from Liverpool, England, citing sources I have been unable to locate. Unfortunately Dorothy is now deceased. I descend from Richard > James > James > Clyde > Nellie (my mother). If there were two Richards in Orange county and one died there, could you provide the source of this death data? Does anyone have any information on Henry- Milfred or J. O. Masters that might have lived in Mississippi. in the 1870s. I have picture of Minnie Masters the grandmother of my grandmother Minnie Lee Masters. She either looked Jewish or Indians. She had very dark hair and eyes. This picture must have been taken in the 1850s. It's tin type. My great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Woulard has two daughters Minnie Lee Masters and Fannie Louise Masters. Minnie born 1874 and Fannie born in 1878. The lived in State Line/Eret , Wayne County, Mississippi. We don't know if Masters was just passing thru or not. On one'd death cert. if J. O. Masters and the others is Henry Masters and some remember the name of Milfred Masters floating around. We were wondering if Masters might have worked on a Steam Boat that may have docked there in Wayne County, Mississippi. Since my grandmoter Minnie Lee Masters 's was Minnie Lee and the Boat docked there was named The Minnie Lee. Just a Thought. It appears the girls were half sisters one was green eyes and auburn red hair the other jet black hair with black eyes. Whatever it was only they knew and they took it to their graves. Thanks for any help. Sandra maiden name Waldrop Georgia

I believe Clement Masters was a son of Richard Masters, who I believe was a son of Clement Masters. Clement applied for a Rev. War Veteran's pension while living in Greene Co, PA. He moved with his assumed siblings to Bedford & Washington Co, PA c1780-81. He is on the 1790 & 1800 Bedford Co, PA census. Most of his siblings moved to New Madrid, Louisiana Territory (Missouri) about 1802. A couple of his brothers moved to Ohio. I don't have the name of his wife or of his 2 sons and 2 daughters on the 1800 census. Doyle Fenn doylefenn@aol.com

Esther's brother (born 1902) was adopted by a family of grocers and was educated at the Bluecoats School in South East London, UK. Would like to hear any news if possible. Esther Masters and her twin brother's biological mother was a milliner (hat maker) from Brighton. She came to London to be her own woman and have her own career, and married a tea taster. She died and Esther's father (Masters) placed them into the care of close friends and neighbours (Mr and Mrs Arthur Smith) in Charlton, Greenwich, London. Unfortunately not much more is known about the twin brother to Esther. Please let me know if this rings any bells.

I found their marriage record in Reno, Nevada 3 Mar 1902. She is listed as "Masters."
