Obituary printed in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Page B5 Tuesday, May 13, 2003: "Mildred Lawler Massey Read, (Millie) 96, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Mother's Day, May 11, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wickliffe Read, Sr., who died on Mother's Day in 1974, and her son, Horace Edward Massey. Among her survivors are daughter-in-law, Mary Massey of Atlanta; sister, Gladys Amato and niece, Cathy Catalano of Cleveland, Ohio; Step-sons, Charles Wickliffe Read, Jr. and his wife, Jeannie, and Henry Read, Sr., and his wife, Ruth. Millie is also survived by a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. An avid golfer, Millie was a founder and long time officer of the North Fulton Women's Golf Association. In 1961 she won the Georgia Women's Golf Association Amateur Championship. Her enthusiasm for golf was exceeded only by her zeal for fishing, a love she passed on to many of her grandchildren. Entombment services will be held Wednesday, May 14th at two thirty o'clock at Westview Abbey.
