    3. Trudy wrote on 17 Apr 2003: << Is there any way to find if my Massey line is aligned with yours in any way? Attached is my information.>> Some of this may be on interest to others, so I'll post it here. The attachment showed Trudy's ancestor as: James S. Massey b. 15 Nov 1815, NC, d. 30 Sep 1885 in Franklin Twp., LaClede Co., MO; m. Charlotte Snow. Their children born from 1832 to 1852 in TN. The parents of James S. are shown as Henry(5) Massey (b. 25 Oct 1755, Wake Co., NC d. 1835/9 in Wilson Co., TN) and Rebecca Blake. They were m. 8 Nov 1781 in Wake Co. Judge Frank Massey's MASSEY GENEALOGY ADDENDUM (1979) and William W. Massey's MASSEY GENEALOGY 2000 (2000) show Henry(5) as son of Richard(4) Massey (and 1st wife Dorothy ----.) Richard(4) appears to be son of Richard(3) (m.Susannah ----), son of Hezekiah(2) - we now place Hezekiah(2) as son of Richard(1) of Charles City Co., VA and believed to have been born in co. Chester, England. Henry(5) is older brother of Richard(5) who is the ancestor of Judge Massey and of William W. Massey. Richard(2), brother of Hezekiah(2), and Anne PETTIPOOL MASSEY were my 6-great grandparents. So I, as well as the two authors cited, are "aligned with" Henry(5) Massey. Henry (5) lived in NW Wake Co, probably now in Durham Co., close to the Raleigh-Durham Airport. My Massey ancestor lived in Franklin Co., NC just across Moccasin Creek from eastern Wake Co. The 2000 book does a much better job of establishing Henry(5) as great grandson of Hezekiah(2) than does the 1979 book, but the children of Henry(5) are not shown in the 2000 book. Judge Massey has about a page (p. 299f) on Henry(5). [He calls him Henry(4), but it's the same person.] Four sons are shown - Henry T. and maybe Benjamin, John, and Samuel. Margaret Chambers, a recent correspondent, has placed Henry Yancy Massey of Wilson Co., TN, as son of a Henry Massey. [Maybe Henry Yancy Sr, but I'm skeptical of the older Henry having a middle name.] Someone [Joyce Massey of Sprngfield,. MO] sent me a chart several years ago on the James Massey of interest that indicated he and Charlotte Snow were married in Meigs Co., TN. This same source said there were three James Massey in LaClede Co. that were difficult to separate. Regards to all, Theron Smith.
