My name is Julie Rutledge Bates my great-great grandfather was Stephen W. Rutledge b.July 6, 1833 d. 12 Dec. 1910 his wife was Mary Massey (Massie) b. 4 Aug. 1835 in Pikeville, Claiborne Co. TN d.23 Dec.1909 in Tyrone, Texas Co. MO m. 15 Dec. 1850 Bledsoe Co. TN her father was Richard Massey b.1790-1800 in NC d.1838-1839 in Bledsoe Co. TN his wife was Mary Alsup m.bef 1820 (There are several other children besides Mary) Richard's father was Charles Massey b. abt 1771 in Franklin Co. NC and died aft.1840 in Laurence Co.TN His wife was Jane Montgomery abt.1794 daughter of Hugh Montgomery That is all I know and it was given to me by one of my Rutledge cousins.
