Does anyone have data on the ancestors of the Patrick Co., VA MASSEYs - many of whom later moved to Mercer Co., WV? Judge Massey placed Richard(5) Massey of Patrick Co., VA BY HYPOTHESIS as son of Abel(4) Massey and placed Abel(4) BY HYPOTHESIS as son of Hezekiah(3) Massey of Brunswick Co., VA, Granville Co., NC; Wake/Franklin Cos., NC , my gg grandfather. It has been reported that Richard of Patrick may have married Winnie CHAMBLEE of Wake/Franklin Cos., NC. But there is no good data to verify any of this. Richard died bet 1836/8, Patrick Co, Va. A descendant of this Richard (5) has DNA that matches that of a descendant of Hezekiah (2) [uncle of William(3)] for 24 out of 25 markers. According to a Jan. 25, 1975 letter from Judge Frank A. Massey, which I've never seen. Richard purchased Land on Turkey Cock Creek, 1791, Franklin Co., VA. He sold this in 1796 and purchased land in Patrick Co., VA 1795 and 1798.
