Jennifer, My Mother was a Massey and I am related to the 1870 Giles Co TN Masseys.  Adolphus Massey was my ggrandfather, my grandfather being Samuel D. Massey, age 2 in the 1870 Giles Co TN census.  There are 17 Masseys listed in Giles Co TN in 1870 and all are related back through Jordan Massey b. 1765 NC (my gggrandfather).  I have not found any connection to E. J. Massey, but I have only begun my Massey research.  I will keep E. J. in mind.  There is a set of Massey books compiled by Judge Frank Massey of Ft. Worth TX in the 1970's and is supposed to include all the Masseys in the US and his descendants back to approximately 1200 in France (Mascy, who came to England during the Normandy invasion).  I have not read them yet, but plan to in the future.
