---- Original Message ----- From: Tim Massey [mailto:massey6@yahoo.com] <snip> If your [Kemis'] husband's grandfather was S. Columbus Massey, son of John C.C. Massey, who was the son of James W.(Wesly) Massey, who was the brother of Eli M. Massey; And if Eli M. Massey was the father of John Hiram Massey, who was the father of William Hiram Dawson Massey, who was the father of Oscar Lovic Massey, who was the father of O.L. Massey, who was the father of Norman Gene Massey, who is my father , then that would be the connection. <snip> Beyond Eli M. and John W., my information is 'sketchy' at best. I have their father listed as Josiah from South Carolina and their mother as Mary from Ireland. I have a few names and bits of information after Josiah and supposedly beginning in America with John Massey b.1616 in Ely (Cambridge) arriving in Fort Henry, Virginia in 1636 and marrying Frances Bobbitt. I've been unable to make the connection for myself from this John Massey (b.1616) to Josiah Massey (b.abt1775) , and so I hoped if this branch > was also part of your tree, you would already have some of this 1600 and > 1700 information. -------------------- Every year or so, I get the urge to to try again to find the earlier ancestry of Eli, Josiah, et al, but I never suceed! They are probaby from Richard Massey and Ann Pettipool of Brunswick Co,. VA [who are my proven ancestors on a maternal Massey line] but in any event we do not have the earlier ancestors of Eli, Josiah, et al. Someone on your line needs to do the Y-chromosome DNA test. This would determine of you are from the same Massey line as Richard. We can be sure that neither you nor I are from John b. 1616 if indeed there was such a person. You can find noble and royal ancestry published for both Richard Massey and his wife, Ann Pettipool. Not all of my research colleagues agree with me, but from what I see, neither line has been validated with adequate documentation to be used in a proven genealogy. Theron Smith 6 great grandson of Richard and Ann.
