>> Need address for the books of Judge Massey. Pat in Ala>> I just now talked to the wife of Judge Massey's younger half brother and she gave me the address of Judge Massey's son, Daniel Massey, who has the reprints for sale. Since I haven't contacted Mr. Massey myself, I won't publish his address on the list, but I will will provide it via private Email to anyone interested. This notice is in regard to the books of the late Judge Frank A. Massey - not to the new book by William W. Massey, who happens to be a 3d cousin of the Judge. The new book is very good on the earliest US Masseys of Prince George, Surry, and Charles City Cos., VA, their descendants to 3 or 4 generations, AND their apparent English ancestries. It does correct some errors in Chapter XIX of the old ADDENDUM. But the new book treats only this one VA branch of the family and doesn't trace the descendants of this VA branch as far toward the present time as Judge Massey's books. Also the other 18 branches of US MASSEYs covered by Judge Masseys books are not treated at all in the new book. So the older books are still needed by beginning Massey researchers. There are a few errors in the old books, but they're the best we have for most Massey lines. Judge Massey attemptied to cover all US branches. And, as is the case with all secondary sources, the lines found therein should be verified with primary or alternative secondary sources - IF YOU CAN IDENTIFY AND FIND THEM. Regards, Theron Smith.
