Donna, I came across your posting on Genforum about a Berry Massey. This is probably a long shot, but I do believe that there is a connection somewhere. Do you know of a connection to the Deason family somewhere in your family? My grandfather's name was Berry Elias Brister. His parents were George Washington and Martha Alabama (Deason) Brister. Martha's parents were John J. and Mary Jane (Norwood) Deason. John was b. ca. 1828 in Monroe Co. Ala. I believe that John J. Deason's mother was either a Massey or her mother was a Massey that married a White. John J.'s mother (Mary?) was probably b. 1796. She was in Monroe Co. Ala on the 1850 Census with her children, but her husband, believed to be Levi Deason was not there. I believe that Levi Deason's parents were Edmond R. Deason Jr. and Hestor Cato.
