    3. Theron, In your opinion has sufficient research been done to find the names of Joseph Massey's wife, Elizabeth? If there is more to be done can you tell me what it is? What is the information to lead some people to believe that he was married to Elizabeth Lanier and Elizabeth Lee? Is there any documentation? Has the Virginia archives been thoroughly searched? Is there any place else that you know of that has not been thoroughly searched? I tend to lean toward Elizabeth Lee being Rebecca's mother because of the history of the name Rebecca in her mother's family. I don't believe there are any Rebeccas in the Lanier family. What, in your opinion, is the reason for so many different birth dates being given for the children of Joseph Massey? Any suggestion that I haven't thought to ask about? So many of my ancestors, born in that period of late 1600s to 1750s are lost in VA, I would surely like to get a few of them back to the emigrant. Merry Christmas Sarah G. 2. Hello, this is Martey Massey. I haven't uncovered anything new really escept for this note I found in a book about Caroline County, Virginia. Date February 8, 1759 Agatha Marshall, Henry Lawson and Elizabeth Massey did not take proper care of their children. It is ordered by the Church wardens of Saint Mary's Parish to bind them out. I don't know if this is our Elizabeth or the Elizabeth of the Clatterback family or someone else and what happened. I have corresponded with others from the Cockerham family that we match DNA with, (I know that sentence is probably not grammatically correct), but they seem to think that the "facts" from the other book about Caroline County, Elizabeth and Cockerham is not really correct. They seem to think that the William Cockerham, the father, is really the son of a William Cockerham, who was a landowner. The book notes seem to lead to the fact that William is also indentured, but then how could he have afforded to pay the price for her/his transgression. Anyway, thanks for asking and this may be a brick wall that can only be semi-fixed with someone with another line from John and Lydia doing a DNA test. 3. I would want to have Joseph Massey. b ca 1690 in Brunswick Co. VA. for Thanksgiving. I would ask him who he was married to ( to whom him was married). Was it Elizabeth Lee or Elizabeth Lanier or both or neither. Which children belonged to which wife and what was their birth order. And then I would ask him who his mother was, and his grandparents. And then I would want to knew all about his life. He would not be able to eat anything because I would have him busy talking. I would be sure to have a recorder so I would not forget exactly what he said and what his voice sounded like and what kind of an accent he had. and I would want to know if he knew some of my other ancestors who lived in Brunswick Co. 3. I would like to share my day with the Elizabeth Massey, who married Richard Clatterbuck, b. abt 1736 in Caroline Co., VA, m. 7 May 1759 and d. abt 1793. I don't have any info on Elizabeth, except that she died aft 1804. I would ask her about her parents and siblings and how her life was in that period. I know that she and Richard had a son, Reuben, b. 31 Dec 1755 in Caroline Co., VA. m. 1782 to Martha "Patsy" Griffin. Reuben died 12 Oct 1838 in Calloway Co., MO. It would be interesting to see how she reacted to our way of life in the 21st century. 1. [MASSEY] THANKSGIVING DINNER
    2. I would invite Elias Massey and his parents and siblings, maybe he will know where to locate them. Also I would get him to invite his wife Eunice Nix's parents and her siblings. I am sure he and Eunice would know where they live. I hope they would bring their daughters Nancy and Elizabeth, so we could meet their husbands and families. I would give them directions to my house, because I do not have a clue where they are, so maybe they could find me aand my husband who is there descendant. I think I would serve anything they wanted, just as long as all of them came and we could finally meet these folks. Elaine **************One site has it all. 2. Kemis, If I could invite anyone I was researching to Thanksgiving dinner, without a doubt it would be Eli Massey (b. abt. 1775, d. after 1850), my ggg grandfather. I'd want to know why he came to Gwinnett CO, Ga, from North Carolina. What was the county like when he arrived? What all was he involved in as far as local government (I know he served on jury, made decisions on a road and a bridge. And he helped found Rockbridge Church. But what else?) What land did he own and with whom (Mr. Jackson, for example)? Why did he leave Gwinnett and go to Paulding County? Was there a gold rush? And where was the last place he lived? Was he really as ambitious a pioneer as I perceive him to be? And did he know A. W. Massey who married Mary (b. 7-27-1787, d. 12-27-1868)? How does A.W. fit into our family tree? How did A.W. die? Did he serve in the military? And was Winship Massey (b. 1816) Eli and Catherine's son or A.W and Mary's son? And why did Eli name one of his sons Affenacious (my gg grandfather)? What does the name mean? Does it have a religious connotation? I would serve my ancestor FRIED turkey for Thanksgiving, surely nothing he had ever tasted in early 19th C. Happy Thanksgiving to all! 2. I would invite John Massey, one the three and possibly 4 John Massey's in my direct line back. This John was born according to census in 1782 in North Carolina. I would ask him who his father and mother were, and ask him if he had two wives or just one. I would also invite Elizabeth Massey of Caroline County, Virginia, born about 1720+1730 and ask her if she was John's grandmother of if this has been a wild goose chase. If she was then I would really want to ask her some questions about her birth, where and so on. As for as food goes, I wonder what they would think aboutTex-Mex or beef BBQ from the state of Texas since Elizabeth had never even heard of Texas and John never saw it.?
