    1. Re: [MASSEY] Massey
    2. I had a Nancy Massey, she was Massey by marriage. She was married to William Massey in Arkansas. The reason I am interested in your query, is that I remember my mother saying there were Poe's married to some of her Massey family, but I have not found a connection. William and Nancy's daughter Eliza jane Massey was married to my great grandfather Henry Cameron. If any of the names are familar, please let me know. 1. [MASSEY] Ft. Benning Jag Office
    2. Kemis Massey
    3. For those who had MASSEY's in Muscogee County, GA. . . I just saw this on WTVM news http://www.wtvm.com/. The Jag office at Ft. Benning burned today. This is bad on several levels. The one the affects Muscogee County, GA research is a big one. The Jag office held all official documents held at Ft. Benning - court cases, wills, suits, etc. It was backed up on a server - that was held in the building that burned. Not a well thought out disaster recovery plan. The building was the 2nd oldest building built by the army. This does not affect birth certificates as they are considered Chattahoochee County's, GA responsibility. kemis ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GAMUSCOG-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hi, my Massey data can be seen by going to my website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mandaley/index.html click onto "Eleonore's data" and then type in MASSEY,A and it will give you ALL my Masseys, or type in a specific name, I might have it. Not all 'my' Masseys are my direct line, in fact most are not, but Oren Sinclair Massey definitely is. However, to confirm that he is related to my direct Ancestor, we would need a male Massey descendant of Oren's to do the dna testing. For further information, please contact me ejcsrac@att.net take care,Eleonore

    1. Re: [MASSEY] Massey,Massie
    2. Theron Smith
    3. Actually both spellings are found in the British Isles - historically and now. Peter Massie of New Kent Co., VA used MASSIE. My folks used MASSEY when they began to read and write. The US census takers didn't necessarily start the confusion, but they certainly added to it! You also find Masy, Massy, Macy, Marsey, Macee, etc. There is a bona fida US Macy family for which Macy is the proper spelling. There was a Barachiah Macy [a Quaker] that Judge Massey and I first thought might be a close cousin or ancestor of my 3-great gf Barachias Massey. We were wrong! Interesting is that Barachiah is the Hebrew and Barachais the Greek form in the New Testament of the given name of a prophet's father in the Hebrew scriptures. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gemass@bellsouth.net> To: <massey@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 02, 2009 8:55 PM Subject: Re: [MASSEY] Massey,Massie > Patti, > The spelling of Massey and Massie, started with the Census Taker's. > Some people didn't know how to spell. > > George W Massey
