Thereon, Judge Massey's books are automatically copyrighted as soon as he published them, whether or not he sent them to the copyright office and paid the fee for copyright. I feel sure he knew that. He could, of course, allow free use if he so chose, but I have no idea (without a lot of legal research) if that still holds true now that he's dead and the copyright would have passed to his children. Does anyone have information on a George Nathan Massey.? I show only two children for Peter b 1700 (Sylvanus b 1738 & William b 1745) Tell me where John fits in this line.
