=============================================================== TODAY'S TIP: ORGANIZING YOUR DATA by Diane J. Muir Once you've collected all the data for your genealogy research, organize it into family groups and put each family unit on a family group sheet. Make a pedigree chart listing yourself as person number one. You'll need eight copies of the family group sheet, which you can find at http://www.rootsweb.com/~genclass/110/famgrp.htm and one pedigree chart, which is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~genclass/110/pedigree.htm Don't worry about mistakes--these are for scribbling on, and you can always print out more if needed. The reason for using eight family group sheets is because a three-generation pedigree chart will have 16 married couples on it. We're assuming you'll eventually have enough information to complete a family group sheet for each couple. Place each couple's group sheet in a manila folder along with all the appropriate information. Any future research concerning that family group can be stored in the manila folder for further reference. BUT WHERE DO YOU PUT THE MANILLA FOLDERS? That is what I need to know. No room in the filing cabinet, or on the top, desk, table and boxes are full. Still a little room on the floor but I have to walk there! Full to the right and full to the left......Oh , yes, I have just straightened everything....again. HA HA HA HA HA.........Lorraine
Hello All, I have recently made a discovery in my Massey Family Tree, My Great Grandmother's maiden name. She was a Burney, born in Ms in 1876, along with that piece of news came the info that my Great Grandfather's middle name was Holland. His full name was John Holland Massey. So I would like to know if there was a marriage between a Massey and a Holland in the early 1800's circa 1840 give or take a few years, my Great Grandfather was born in 1856 in Ms. Any help greatly appreciated. Always, Anna

Eli and Catherine (Bolton) Massey moved from Wake Co. NC to Gwinnett Co. GA in 1821 and later to Muscogee Co. where Catherine died. On the 1850 census Eli is living with their daughter Rainey (Roena?) in Paulding Co. They had numerous children, at least Affancious, Winship, William H. and Rainey. I would like more information on this family. Anyone out there researching the Massey Family from Kentucky, primarily the Hickman County area? Mary Ann (Massey) Fox

When a parent was listed as being born in the United States instead of a state on the census, does it mean that they were an American Indian? I have noticed that some of my ancestors have listed that they were born in Texas or Georgia but that their parents were born in the United States. Ray Massey
I am new to these lists and am hoping someone can answer some questions for me! I descend from Charles MASSIE/MASSEY, born about 1678 in St. Peters Parish,New Kent, Virginia, Charles married Ann Macon. My line is through their daugther Elizabeth who married John MOSS. Charles father was Peter MASSEY - I have found on the Ancestral file differing listings about which Peter was Charles father. Were Charles parents Peter Massey who married Lucretia Ashley, or Penelope Ahsley Cooper? Were Lucretia and Ashley sisters and did Peter marry one first and the other after the 1st died (if so, which sister was the mother of Charles? Also - who were the parents of Peter Massey, Charle's father? I would like to document my information (and I do know that what is on the Ancestral File is not documented!). Any help, including sources of information, would be greatly appreciated!!! I'm happy to share what I have and my sources of information. Thank you, Ginny [email protected]

I've been searching for about 15 years for Drury & Eleanor Massey in Arkansas and finally found them on the 1870 census, really by accident. The name had been indexed as "MOSSEY". They were living in Benton Twp. Conway Co. AR in 1870 but apparently this area became Benton Twp. Faulkner Co. AR in 1873. They were still listed on 1880 census (both age 65) but I haven't been able to find them after that. A daughter Mary Massey (from a first marriage) married Reverend Abel C. Ray and they were still living in Faulkner County, AR in 1900. Missing are: William R. Massey born 1849 TN, Levi A. Massey born 1851 TN and Jesse Massey born 1852. All were listed in 1870. Is there anyone out there familiar with this family? Paulette Haynes [email protected] HAYNES FAMILY GENEALOGY

"Hello again Cousins!" As we are all well aware, missing marriage records can be a major blow to our research efforts. Am hoping that one or more among you might possibly recognize one or more of the above surnames in Clay Co., AR, and one or more of the below mentioned SEXTON family members and their spouses, who lived in Greene / Clay Co., AR, area from as early as the mid-to-late 1850's through as least 1900 or later in many instances: Mary E. Edna F., b Feb 1880, AR Am hoping to learn the maiden names of the spouses of the above SEXTON brothers, and the given names for these unidentified spouses of the above SEXTON sisters, and eventually be able to learn the full identities of the children for as many of the above families as might be possible. Should you happen to recognize any of the above families, please do advise. Should any of these marriages be ancestral family for you or your immediate family, will be more than happy to share what I know of this family's ancestry. Am engaged in an on-going effort to identify as many descendants of "Our CRAIG Family!" as might eventually be possible, down through 1920 or so, for the benefit of future generations of family researchers. Thank you for any and all help or assistance you might lend in our family's on-going search for "Immigrant Ancestors and their Descendants!" Keeping my fingers crossed here!
