I'm doing research on my MASSEY family and found my GG-Grandmother, MARGARET E. MASSEY, [who married JASPER NEWTON YOUNG], and her eight brothers and sisters on the 1850 census in Attala Co., MS living with a "C.P. Minister" and his wife by the name of ELAM and MARGARET WADDEL. The parents of these nine MASSEY children were JOSEPH MASSEY, II and CATHERINE RAY. In trying to research ELAM WADDEL, I haven't found anything, but I'm curious if he could possibly be the son of Rev. Moses Waddel and wife, Catherine Calhoun Waddel. ELAM WADDEL was born in Georgia in about 1806. I'm also very curious if there is a family link between the MASSEY family and the WADDEL family. Also, what church did the initials "C. P. Minister" represent? Thanks for any information. Thel Curtis [email protected]

Joseph Massey, II was born on January 9, 1808 Buncombe Co., North Carolina He died in 1887 in Lampassas Co., Texas. He is buried at Matthew's Ranch, Menard Co., Texas. Joseph Massey, II was married to Catherine Ray on April 11, 1830 in Cedar Creek, Fayette or Shelby Co., Alabama Can anyone tell me about "Matthew's Ranch" in Menard Co., Texas? - was it an actual ranch, perhaps owned by Mr. Matthew? - if so, was Joseph perhaps living or working there when he died? - or, was it the name of a town in Menard Co., Texas Any information appreciated. Does anyone have names to go with the initials for B. Burney family listed on the 1880 Holmes Co., Ms. census. I think the 4 year old female may be my Great Grandmother Sarah Jane Burney. I need more names to be able to go in a new direction to research. It my even be possible that B. Burney is her Grandfather not her father but I haven't been to find anymore that what is on the 1880 census. I don't find her again until 1900 Caddo Parish, La. There she is married to John H. Massey . The 1910 Census finds her a widow living Sulphur Township, Miller Co., Ar. The older daughters listed on both census are of ages that conflict with her being their mother. I know that John H. Massey is buried in Miller Co.,Ar. at Enon Church Cemetery, he died in 1910 before the Census was taken. Am I right that these two are the same person? or am I just wishful thinking? Any help appreciated, Always, Anna

Hello MASSEY/MASSIE Researchers, I am looking for the parents of William MASSEY or MASSIE who was probably born about 1809 or 1810 in Kentucky (United States), possibly Nicholas County. This may have been the part of Nicholas County that later became Robertson County. He was first married to Catherine CAMPBELL in 1833, and had four or five children: 1. Nathan B. MASSEY, born 21 June 1836. 2. Elizabeth Jane MASSEY, born 1838. 3. Lucretia MASSEY, born 1840. 4. Rebecca Ann MASSEY, born 1842. 5. Catherine, born about 1846 (not sure if she was Catherine's daughter or not-- does anyone know?) His wife, Catherine, died (I am also looking for her date and place of death and where she might be buried) and he married a second time to Henrietta in 1846. They had more children, (Catherine?), John, Maria, Mary E., Margaret Ellen, Robert W., and Sarah A. I have census records for William MASSEY or MASSIE or MACY in 1840, 1850, and 1860 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, and 1870 in Robertson County. He must have died before 4 June 1880 because "Henreta" (it's hard to read) MASSEY, age 54, is either widowed (or divorced) on the 1880 Census in Robertson County, Mitchells Mills Precinct. Would any of you MASSEY researchers have some ideas about William's parents? or more information about Catherine CAMPBELL MASSEY? Does anyone know of marriage records or death dates or burial places for anyone in this family? Thank you, s a g e @ c w o . c o m
The above, after spending the first thirty years of her life in Chester, has appeared at Castle Howard as a dressmaker. I have tried to find her later life in both Marriage and Death Indexes without success. Does anyone have a note of her in their records? Donald Massey

I am still seeking the above: last trace 1848 when he was witness to the marriage of his brother John at Ruabon. He did not marry or die locally before 1851, and is not in the census for Denbighshire or Flintshire, nor in Chester, Wirral or Birkenhead, often the first place migrants from the those Welsh counties made for, and where his father apparently came from, and one brother settled.
