The rules of list etiquette are standard on all lists. First, do not dictate to the list, unless you are the list administrator. If you follow that one, there will be no Roll Calls unless the list administrator calls for one. Second, put the names you are researching in the subject line, along with the dates and places. That way everyone can delete without opening the message if they have no interest or connection. If you follow that one, there will be NO ROLLCALLs because the proper subject has the family names there. Third, do not continue a thread that is not related to genealogy, unless you wish to send it privately to the person who began it. Do not assume that everyone is interested in everyone's oppinion. That includes the thread that is going right now, on roll calls and list rules. Fourth, if you change the subject, change the subject line of your message. These are not my rules, alone, but are just common courtesy on multi-member lists. My only rule except for obvious abuse, is NO ROLL CALLs. 3. I've noticed from ALDALE-L messages that the name "Sherrod" appears in Martin families there. You might want to do a search of the archives of that list to find messages where "Sherrod" Martin, or just "Sherrod" appears. John Landis wrote: > William Sherrod Martin Born March 29, 1878.
