Frederica My Shields connection came thru Virginia, into Sevier Co, TN (before it was Sevier Co), on to Jefferson Co, IL then back to Sevier County. He was born, at least before 1770, possibly 1744. I'm not sure. Can't pinpoint him definately. I am told that the 10 brothers that migrated into Sevier Co had descendants that went into Mississippi and Alabama also. I would have to send you to the Shields Mail list to get more difinitive info. The only info I have concerning Return J. Meigs is that which is available on the Monroe County web site. www.tngenweb.org/monroe Those records are the ones he kept while agent for the Cherokee's.
